Bering Optics BE80411 Reviews

Unimpressed with build design.

As one who works a lot in machining, and as an aircraft mechanic, I was very disappointed that this is the best I could find for this application. The serrations for height adjustment aren't the same tooth profile. Any given adjustment option gives very little bearing with large tooth serrations riding unevenly over differently spaced smaller serrations. The thumb screws don't provide adequate torquing means, additionally the studs for these thumb screws are just a knurled head that can easily be stripped out in the aluminum, thus reasonable torque could ruin the mount. The locking screws for height adjustment are threaded into aluminum with no heli-coil which also poses threat of ripping threads out if torqued to a reasonable spec. I expected much better design for the money. The height adjustment especially seems like these two pieces were never meant to be mated, but entirely different parts that someone just decided to throw together. I've seen 10th graders build better in shop class.
