The UTM-86-HRS Lavalier Mic with 4-Pin Hirose Connector for Audio-Technica Wireless Transmitters from Senal features an omnidirectional polar pattern and a frequency response optimized for voices and dialog. It can be used to deliver realistic and robust broadcast-quality sound for TV, live stage, theater, or any other applications where an inconspicuous lavalier microphone is needed.

The lavalier mic has a wide frequency response tailored for rich low frequencies and a natural-sounding mid range. The omnidirectional polar pattern provides minimal sensitivity to head movement and offers numerous options for discreetly positioning the microphone on a performer's clothing or wardrobe. A windscreen and a selection of various mounting accessories are included to accommodate miking scenarios for public speaking, interview, video, and film applications. Specially designed strain relief and cable insulation significantly minimize handling noise.

The UTM-86-HRS can also be combined with Senal's power supply (sold separately) enabling it to operate on phantom or battery power, which provides compatibility with any XLR mic input.

Audio-Technica Series Transmitters

The UTM-86-HRS terminates in a connector designed for Audio-Technica transmitters

Optimized for Speech

The mic is built small, but doesn't skimp on quality. This lavalier features an electret condenser element with a wide dynamic range. The frequency response is tailored to capture rich, low frequencies and a natural-sounding mid range, which is ideal for speech and dialog.

Omnidirectional Polar Pattern

The omnidirectional polar pattern is minimally sensitive to head movement. If the subject turns his or her head while speaking, the UTM-86-HRS will pick up the voice without any fluctuations in volume. The microphone captures sound that is slightly off-axis and is indispensable for minimizing vocal plosives and popping.

Low Noise

The cable can be a source of unwanted noise. A shielded cable protects against radio-frequency interference. Its insulation and specially designed strain relief minimize handling and cable noise if your subject is moving around while speaking.

Miniature Size

The small and unobtrusive capsule has a head diameter of only 0.2" (5.5mm) and makes the UTM-86-HRS easy to conceal in a performer's clothing or props for onscreen and onstage use. The microphone is inconspicuous and will capture great sound.

Accessories

The microphone is suitable for all kinds of applications and includes several mounting options such as a single tie clip, double tie clip, a cable clip, a magnetic clip with lanyard, and a viper clip. Two foam windscreens provide extra protection against wind noise and vocal plosives.

Expanded Capability

When combined with Senal's power supply (available separately), your lavalier microphone is compatible with any device that has an XLR mic input such as a mixing board, video camcorder, or portable audio recorder.

Carry Case

A padded carry case holds the microphone and accessories securely and protects them from impact, dust, or moisture during transport.

What does "optimized" mean? Is that just a reference to the locking feature? Will I have any issues plugging directly into a Sony a6500?

It means that the wiring on the connector is for Sennheiser and Senal wireless transmitters, and It will not work with your camera. You may want to consider the Saramonic SR-XLM1 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1353400-REG/saramonic_sr_xlm1_broadcast_quality_lav_omni_microphone.html

Will this work with any xlr mic input that provides 48v phantom power? eg Motu M2 ?
Asked by: Richard
No, this microphone will not connect to a common XLR input, and it does not operate on 48v Phantom. We do offer a similar microphone that does come with a 48v phantom adapter (it is not going to pass full 48v to the mic, rather it reduces to the nominal voltage). It actually has better frequency response than the UTm-86. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/898932-REG/senal_cl6_3_5n_p_cl6_omni_lavalier_mic.html
