What's the actual capacity of the drive when new? 7.??tb
Asked by: John K.
Since the standard of 1 GB = 1 billion bytes (NOT 2^10 bytes apparently) So if you buy a 8TB hard drive then your computer should show 7.2TB percisely. If you feel annoy, you can sue the standard organization. Computer adopt 2^10 style not 1 billions style.

question

Is this hard drive formatted for a Mac?
Asked by: Edie
Dana, I think that's partially correct. Files can be both read and written to exFat on a Mac, but I've read that it will require a re-format (erase) to be used as a Time Machine target.
