Raya Background Support Kit Overview

Useful for the studio or when on location, the Small Background Support Kit from Raya handles seamless paper rolls or fabric backgrounds and gives your work a polished look. The kit includes two support stands with a maximum height of 6'. The four-piece crossbar can be snapped together in two different lengths - 4.9' which is suitable for 53" seamless paper rolls or 9.8' which can support 10' wide muslin or fabric backgrounds. The weight capacity is 6.5 lb at the minimum width and 4.4 lb at the 9.8' width.

Two A-clamps are included in the kit to ensure that the seamless remains at your chosen length or to secure fabric backgrounds, while the provided carry bag makes taking the lightweight 4.8 lb kit on the road effortless. Optional sandbags, such as those made by Impact, are always recommended to stabilize your set up.

This is a very lightweight background support! If you remember that you will be fine! It's height is about 6.5 feet, a bit shorter then I expected, but then it said it in the product description. Good for transporting on location and as a headshot backdrop for seated clients. Probably not tall enough for standing clients especially if you shoot from a lower position light Peter Hurley! Overall an excellent product.

I got this photo-backdrop stand not expecting too much because, well, it was all I could afford to be honest. But now I'm glad I did. The quality is just fine and it is super lightweight and portable. The entire stand breaks down into a rather small bag (included) which is larger than a travel tripod but much, much smaller than my Sirui fluid head tripod, to use as a reference. When assembled, this stand has no trouble holding up my 7x5 backdrops. Until I go whole hog and purchase something as large as a 10x10 photographic backdrop, I won't need another stand.

FOR LIGHTWEIGHT INDOOR USE

So I still bought this even after reading the reviews that said it's low quality. My needs are minimal and I figured it will do. I bought it to hang two lightweight backgrounds in an indoor studio space that doesn't have the hazards of pets, kids, or the public. I would not recommend this if you need it for outdoors, near pets, kids, or the public. It isn't rugged enough to handle those conditions. The side support poles are wonky due to them being thin and lightweight but at this budget price, I'll deal with it. Using the two center extension poles (adding both part B center poles to end poles A & C) causes it to sag in the middle, even without anything attached to them, so I recommend only using this kit with the end poles (A&C) to make it the smallest and sturdiest it can be. The photo shows using poles A B C , without using the 2nd B. I used the included little A clamps to the ends of a 74 lightweight cardboard tube (salvaged/repurposed from a fly fishing rod shipment) to keep the tube from sliding. I gaff taped the backgrounds onto the tube keep them hanging level and smooth. The tube also helps to take the stress weight off the somewhat sag-prone center pole. I plan to keep the gradient backgrounds hanging straight down and cover them loosely with a clear lightweight plastic drop cloth taped to the tube to protect them when not in use. I'm aware that these flotone backgrounds are fragile, can crease and scratch if you're not careful, so I'm being super cautious and diligent to preserve their lifespans as much as I can by creating the setup the way I did for my needs. The gray plastic shower curtain on the wall has nothing to do with the setup, although I'm sure it might help somewhat with reflected light from the pure white wall. I plan to drape the backgrounds on top of an adjustable height drafting table that fits the space perfectly. B&H Staff has been a huge help in directing me to the right equipment for my needs. I'm an artist, not a professional photographer, and I needed a fast and reliable setup to take pics of my 3D sculptures. Thanks, B&H. You're awesome! : )

Yes! But it’s pretty light so I would suggest using weights or sand bags to hold the bars down for complete stability
