Snypex 8x32 Knight D-ED Binoculars
Key Features
  • Extra Low-Dispersion Glass Objectives
  • Phase-Corrected BAK4 Roof Prisms
  • Fully Multi-Coated Optics
  • Short 3.9' Close Focus Distance
Snypex improved on the design of their top-tier line to produce these 8x32 Knight D-ED Binoculars. They upgraded their eyepiece and objective lens configuration to 5-elements in four groups for both for improved optical quality and overall image brightness. Complementing this improvement is the use of fully multi-coated extra low-dispersion glass, and dielectric-coated phase-correcting BAK4 prisms. These technologies work together to produce bright and clear images with accurate color rendition across the entire field of view without distortion. This iteration is made with a versatile 8x magnification which provides a wider field of view and reduced visible hand-shake versus their higher-power vision, while preserving the same short close focus distance.

Snypex Knight D-ED 8x32 Overview

The Knight's open-bridge design helps to reduce weight without sacrificing strength, and provides a large surface area to hold, even with the compact housing. Rubber armoring gives protection from drops and impacts while helping to provide a non-slip grip. Designed for durability, the lightweight fiberglass-reinforced polycarbonate housing is nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed for fogproof performance and make them submersible. Twist-up eyecups provide a custom-fit eye relief for use with or without eye-wear.

Snypex Knight D-ED 8x32 Reviews

Poor construction

Bought these highly rated binoculars for safari trip - on the trip the bolts and screws came off. Then the right eyepiece unscrewed. We had plenty of bumps but these are specifically lauded for safari so I expected a high degree of ruggedness. They should only be used to view birds out your back window. Customer service is difficult and for naught. I couldn’t find my receipt so offered to pay for repairs- no reply- all and all a very poor selection

My first quality binoculars

I did a lot of research before choosing this Synpex model, but this is my first quality binocular so I really have nothing for comparison. I'm 65 and wear progressive bifocals, but I see just fine through these without my glasses. I bought them primarily for local birding and my backpacking adventures, so weight was important. I also wanted close focus, waterproof, fog proof, and the best optics I could get for $300 or less. The B&H price of $299.99 beat Amazon by $80 and most other sellers by $150 or more. I couldn't find better lightweight 8x32 bins that checked all my boxes. I would have rated them 5 stars except the flip-down objective lens covers are a bit finicky putting back in place, and aren't held in place well when covering the lens. Also, one of the lower strap sections was missing a buckle necessary to keep the bins attached. The part is circled in red in my uploaded pic, with an arrow pointing to where it's missing on the other strap. I have no complaints whatsoever with B&H customer service, which was quick to respond with an offer of full exchange with free shipping. However, I wanted to use the bins right away so I removed the buckle on the other strap and was able to rig them securely by pulling a looped end through the attachment point on the bins. By doing this I was able to make the overall strap length shorter so the bins wouldn't swing and sway at belly level. At six feet and a half inch I'm not short, but with the strap as designed it hangs much lower than my preference. Again, B&H service was great with a follow up and proper concern. Snypex, however, was entirely unresponsive when i inquired about obtaining the small missing strap part (which B&H does not stock). Snypex did not reply to my online contact form or email. Both their customer service phone numbers were out of service. Aside from all that, I really like these binoculars and am looking forward to many years of getting a better look at the natural world around me.

question

Does this come with the caring case and a neck strap?
Asked by: Susan B.
Yes, it does. I do not personally like or use any hard carrying case, but the neck strap is really good.

question

What are the dimensions, weight?
Asked by: louise
Already measured so here goes anyway. Check against specs. Weight in very protective transport case is 1#14.5 oz and without case but with caps and neckstrap the weight is 14.5 oz. Case measurements are 5-3/4 by 5-1/4 by 2-1/4 deep.
