    Manfrotto MTWISTGRIP reviews

TwistGrip Tripod Adapter Clamp for Smartphones is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Mount if You Use it Correctly This is my favorite smartphone tripod adapter. Some have complained that the Manfrotto TwistGrip Tripod Adapter Clamp does not hold a smartphone firmly or that it wobbles. That is a correct statement ONLY if you use it INCORRECTLY and don’t follow the printed instructions. When folded into position for use, squeeze at the BACK of the clamp nearest the tightening knob and you will find this is one of the most secure tripod adapters you can buy. If you pinch it at the tips of the top and bottom jaws it does cause slack even when you tighten the knob. An advantage of the metal construction is that it has enough weight that when I’ve got my iPhone X in it, it can stand on it’s own on a flat table or shelf without the need for a tripod. I’m a minimalist so the super thin flat form works well for me. I leave my quick mount adapter from my Gorillapod attached to the TwistGrip so I can just pop it on the Joby if I need an angled shot or a raised support.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I wanted What you would expect from a company like Manfrotto. Build is solid. It's a bit heavier than I expected, but thats not a bad thing. My iPhone 7 plus fits.....just. It has no problem holding on to the big heavy phone. Very secure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Specious enough. My iphone 7plus fits nicely even with its case wallet attached to it, I was hesitant that it would not accomodate the phone as a whole.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't Waste Your Money! I have multiple Manfrotto products and I'm very pleased with all but this. it's well made and certainly looks good but doesn't hold any phone I try with it. I can't possibly tighten it down enough to hold the cell phone from moving around. tried 3 phones with and without cases and it won't hold a single one. Big let down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I'm good with this product Works just fine on iPhone 6.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good craftsmanship, bad design I bought this because it's one of the only mounts I've seen that includes a cold shoe mount. Genius! Unfortunately, the folding sides are not helpful. It's designed so it can fold flat, but I don't need that feature. The trade-off is that there are several wobble points that do not make for a very solid mount. You also cannot tighten your phone into this like some models. If you are not careful, your phone could fall out.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Weak. The same design that makes it interesting, it's the main weakness. Top and bottom moves constantly making the phone not very stable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from When just looking good doesn't just cut it At first glance this is the nicest smartphone mount I've ever seen. The brushed aluminum is really slick and the weight gives an impression of, quality, you would expect of a phone mount at this price point. So it's all good right? yea, right up until you use it. It's neat how it folds and unfolds flat (for storage I guess???) and how the top contains a mount for a hot shoe but the reality of how this thing holds you device is very underwhelming. Unlike other mounts that use an spring tension method of keeping the device secure this uses a basic tightening knob that does nothing but keep the jaws in the same position. And it does this well except the amount of tension on the device is purely based on how tightly you can squeeze it against your phone while tightening the knob. There isn't a lot of give in it either so when you release your grip the phone sits in the mount but there isn't a whole lot of steady tension to keep it from sliding out. Add to that, the, clever collapsable jaws wobble when the phone is mounted and give the overall feeling of a lose, unsecure grip. Try using the device while it's inside the mount.. feels worse than a $5 shopping mall kiosk mount. Another gripe I have is that there's no 1/4 20 screw on the vertical portion of the mount so you can only mount it from one angle or you have to use some sort of adapter to get the mount from portrait to landscape. It would have been soo easy to just put another hole in the other side of the mount but i guess that probably added challenges to the design of their adjustment system? The way it collapses is neat but that's all it is. The wobble added by having that functionality is not a compromise that I would make and the lost flexibility of not having the ability to mount in portrait without adapters is surprising. Overall a dissapointment and not worth the price. Look at the $10 Joby GripTight mounts or even the vastly superior DJI smartphone mount for the Osmo. They did it right.
