The KN Series 24-Port CAT5 KVM over IP Switch from ATEN provides a local console and remote over IP access for users to monitor and access their entire data center over a network. It can control up to 40 servers. By cascading compatible KVM switches, as many as 384 servers can be controlled on a complete two-stage installation. It features the FPGA graphics processor that supports transmission of resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz with 24-bit color depth up to a distance of 164'. It also supports FIPS 140-2 with level 1 security standards and provides faster virtual media transmission speeds for accessing USB drives.

With dual on-board NICs and dual power supplies, this KN Series switch is built for reliability, to ensure 24/7 availability of remote access to all servers. This unit can be integrated into ATEN's CC2000 Management Software. The CC2000 software provides complete control of remote data centers and branch offices, allowing the IT administrators to remotely monitor and control all devices on a network, including blade server chassis, individual blades, and virtual machines. Additional, the KVM over IP Switch features a message board, Panel Array Mode, Mouse DynaSync, and the Adapter ID.

Main Highlights

FPGA graphics processor supports resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz with 24-bit color depth at the switch's local console and on remote displays
Virtual media transmissions at twice the speed
Simultaneously share one local console and two independent connections to the attached servers

RJ45 connectors and CAT5e/6 cable connect up to 24 ports in a 1U housing
Laptop USB Console (LUC) - a dedicated USB port directly connects to a laptop for easy console operation
Two separate buses for remote KVM over IP access
Two 10/100/1000 Mb/s NICs for redundant LAN or dual IP operation
Blade server support
Supports PS/2, USB, Sun Legacy (13W3), and serial (RS-232) connectivity
Local console provides USB keyboard and mouse support
Supports multi-platform server environments: Windows, Mac, Sun, Linux, and VT100 based serial devices
Audio enabled
Supports microphone and speakers on the console for the servers; supports speakers on the remote users' computers
Dual power supply
Monitor and control up to 40 computers on a single level, or control up to 384 computers in a cascade

Easy-to-Use Interface

Panel array mode allows simultaneous monitoring for both local console operators and remote access users
Multi-platform client support (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Sun)
Multi-browser support; Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Mozilla, Netscape
Browser-based UI in pure Web technology allows administrators to perform administrative tasks without pre-installed Java software
Users can launch multiple virtual remote desktop sessions to control multiple servers during the same login
Full-screen or sizable and scalable virtual remote desktop window
Local console, browser-based, and AP GUIs offer a unified multi-language interface to minimize the user training time and increase productivity
Supports keyboard/mouse broadcast
Keyboard and mouse inputs can be duplicated on all the attached servers
Video syncing with the local console; local console monitor's EDID information stored on the KVM adapter cables (available separately) for display resolution optimization

Advanced Security

Remote authentication support: RADIUS, LDAP, LDAPS and Microsoft Active Directory
Supports TLS 1.2 encryption and RSA 2048-bit certificates to secure user logins from browsers
Flexible encryption design allows users to choose any combination of 56-bit DES, 168-bit 3DES, 256-bit AES, 128-bit RC4 or random for independent keyboard/mouse, video and virtual media data encryption
Supports IP/MAC address filtering
Configurable user and group permissions for server access and control
Automated CSR creation utility and third-party CA certificate authentication

Virtual Media

Enables remote file transfers, OS patching, software installation, and diagnostic testing
Works with USB-enabled servers at the operating system and BIOS level
Supports DVD/CD drives, USB mass storage devices, PC hard drives and ISO images
Supports smart card readers on computers connected with the KA7166, KA7168, KA7169, or KA7177 adapter cables (available separately)

Virtual Remote Desktop

Video quality can be adjusted to optimize data transfer speed; monochrome color depth setting, threshold and noise settings for compression of the data bandwidth in low bandwidth situations
Fullscreen or scalable window for desktop sessions
Message Board for communication among remote users
Mouse DynaSync function automatically synchronizes the local and remote mouse movements
Exit Macro support
On-screen keyboard with multi-language support
BIOS-level access for trouble shooting

Configurable Network Bandwidth Settings

Network bandwidth settings allow you to streamline data throughput by adjusting the size of the data stream (bandwidth) to match network traffic conditions
Video performance can be adjusted to optimize the data throughput for the available network bandwidth
With high-speed LAN access, the settings can be adjusted so that a greater amount of video data is sent, resulting in a higher quality video display
Settings can be adjusted to minimize network lag during limited bandwidth
