ZEISS Milvus 15mm f/2.8 Overview

An impressive wide-angle prime for Nikon F-mount cameras, the Milvus 15mm f/2.8 ZF.2 from ZEISS utilizes a Distagon optical concept to control distortion and produce sharp, clean imagery with a dynamic perspective. A floating elements system is employed for consistent performance throughout the focus range while five anomalous partial dispersion glass elements and a pair of aspherical elements are featured to control chromatic and spherical aberrations for increased clarity and sharpness. For minimizing flare and ghosting, an enhanced ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating has been applied to benefit working in difficult lighting conditions.

The manual focus design is complemented by a rubberized focus ring for fine-tuned, precise control over your focus position. Additionally, Milvus-series lenses also feature an equally aesthetic and durable frosted, anodized metal lens-barrel surface along with a weather-sealed construction to protect against dust and moisture.

Wide-angle prime is designed for FX-format Nikon F-mount cameras, however can also be used with DX models where it will provide a 22.5mm equivalent focal length
Bright f/2.8 maximum aperture suits working in available-light conditions and is also well-suited for astrophotography use.
Distagon optical concept affords high sharpness, well-corrected image quality from edge-to-edge, and very low field curvature.
Five anomalous partial dispersion elements are used to significantly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for increased clarity and color fidelity.
Two aspherical elements control distortion and spherical aberrations in order to produce greater sharpness and more accurate rendering.
ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating has been applied to each lens surface to help minimize reflections and provide greater contrast and color fidelity.
Floating elements system helps to maintain consistent image quality throughout the entire focusing range, from 9.8" to infinity.
Manual focus design is benefitted by focusing and depth of field scales along with hard stops at both infinity and minimum focusing positions.
The manual aperture ring has clicked indicators throughout aperture range. Using the included De-Click Tool, this ring can be mechanically 'de-clicked' for smooth, silent rotation throughout the aperture range; making it ideal for video applications.
Weather-resistant construction includes internal seals to guard against dust and moisture as well as a blue sealing ring at the lens mount to protect the lens-camera interface.
All-metal lens barrel has a frosted, anodized surface along with a rubberized focusing ring for both durability and improved tactile control.

question

Can I use Lee push-on filter holder on this lens?
Asked by: Runkun Z.
The Zeiss Milvus 15mm f/2.8 ZF.2 Lens for Nikon F has a 95mm front filter thread, so you could use the LEE Filters Foundation Kit with the LEE Filters Adapter Ring for Foundation Kit. It would be a better option than attempting to use the push-on filter holder. That being said, as the lens has yet to be released, we would not be able to verify whether or not it would be compatible with the push-on filter holder.

Hello, Can I use the aperture ring on this lens with the Nikon D850?
Asked by: Mohammed
You have the choice of controlling the aperture using the aperture ring on the lens or electronically via the camera. This choice must be set in the camera by going to the Customize Command Dial setting F4, described at: https://onlinemanual.nikonimglib.com/d850/en/18_menu_guide_05_f04.html. Since the Milvus series incorporates a CPU, the aperture range is automatically recognized by the camera.

question

Can I use LEE Filters Foundation Kit with the LEE Filters Adapter Ring 95mm for Foundation Kit. Has it vignetting? Thank you.
Asked by: nian x.
You cannot use the Foundation Kit (100mm filters). It's too small for such a wide angle lens. The LEE SW150 II (150mm filters) system works perfectly. I use the SW150 II filter holder and 95mm screw-in style adapter ring (sold separately) with this lens. It works perfectly. There is no vignetting at all. I use 150mm NiSi filters with this system. They fit fine, and the filters are of higher quality. The downside of such a large filter system is the high price and the amount of space they take up. The image quality you can get out of them with this lens though is unparalleled. Hope that helps.
