Bescor FP-312 Overview

A versatile bi-color lighting kit for on-location or in-the-studio applications, the FP-312S 1-Point LED Light Kit from Bescor includes 1 FP-312 LED fixture and included accessories along with 1 LS180 light stand.

The FP-312 is a compact battery powered daylight/tungsten balanced on-camera LED light, which outputs a continuously variable color temperature light between 3200 and 5600K, and features a built-in dimmer that can adjust the light's output from 100 to 10%. Built into the light is an LCD panel that shows a digital readout of the brightness level, color temperature of the light, and features a battery gauge so you know how much power you have left.

Included with the light is a removable four-leaf barndoor set, diffusion filter, two L-series batteries, two car charger power cords, and an AC adapter. A 1/4"-20 threaded hole allows you to mount the light to your camera's accessory shoe via the included ball adapter. You can also stack multiple FP-312 lights together using the interlocking rail system.

Variable Color Temperature & Dimming
The FP-312 features a total of 312 LEDs, and a single knob that allows you to vary the color temperature of the unit from 3200 to 5600K. A separate knob controls the dimming of the unit, with a brightness range of 100 to 10%.
Digital Display Screen
The dimmer and color temperature settings are controlled by analog knobs, but the digital readout on the built-in display screen allows you to match the output of other units or repeat setups. The display also incorporates a four-step battery gauge so you know how much battery power you have remaining.
Barndoors
The included four-sided removable barndoors are constructed so the doors can interlock together, limiting light leak from the edges, controlling light spill, and providing directionality to your light. The side doors feature articulating leafs that provide you a fairly wide range of adjustment while still controlling light leaks from the edges of the doors.
Diffusion
Although you can attach diffusion gel to the barndoors, the FP-312 incorporates a slot for the included precut diffusion sheet that can be used with or without the barndoors. The diffusion is notched, and a safety tab engages the notch to prevent it from accidentally falling out.
Power
The light unit features slots for two L-series batteries of any capacity, and includes two L-series batteries. The light can run on one or two batteries, or you can use the AC adapter to power the light via the power connector on the back of the unit.
Mounting
The light incorporates a 1/4"-20 threaded mounting hole in the bottom of the unit, and an interlocking rail system that allows you to stack units vertically or horizontally.

Not good� in so many ways

I have been using this light for 6 months.� When I received it, the battery chargers were already broken.� We had to get new ones.� The batteries that come with it are ok, but to get a longer life out of the battery power, you would need to get higher capacity batteries.� The barn doors are decent as long as you take care not to bend them.� The DC power input on the back of the unit has already come loose and won't turn on.� When the light does turn on, it immediately jumps to 100%, then adjusts to whatever you've set the dial to.� As a result, you cannot ease the� light on which is necessary in some of my situations.� I can't recommend this product.

Very portable. The tripods aren't the sturdiest. I'd recommend getting a soft box or diffusion gel as the lights hurt people's eyes. Not sufficient for 100 ISO shooting if there aren't other light sources

How are the light stands that come with this kit?

The light stands are decent and work well. However just know that the stems have a groove in them so that their fixed and can't move freely 360 degrees. You can adjust the height but not turn them.
