With a sleek form follows function design, The Black ALTA RISE 48 Backpack from Vanguard accommodates two Pro DSLRs, five lenses up to 24-70 f/2.8, a flash, a 15" laptop, a tablet, and accessories. The +6 revolution expands the storage size with one easy zipper motion around the exterior, and a concealed rear pocket keeps valuables safe. The side pocket has a compression strap for securing your small tripod or a water bottle.

Comfortable transport options include a large, padded, top grab handle, padded shoulder straps with connector, and a waist belt. The thick, padded, air mesh back panel helps cushion impact, improve airflow, and reduce moisture. It was difficult to configure this backpack to accommodate my Nikon 200-500mm lens and allow the side access for my D7500 camera. The backpack is well constructed, has decent storage capacity and the yellow interior makes it easy to find the gear I need.

Is this bag waterproof? Or does it need a rain cover to make it waterproof?

The bag itself is not waterproof, however it comes with a rain cover which is stored in its own special pocket. This makes it water resistant, of course not truly water proof (i.e., not submersible).

The Vanguard The ALTA RISE 48 Backpack (Black) is a touch too small for the 16" M1 MacBook Pro. The computer is 14.01 x 9.77" and the backpack's largest side for the computer is 11.75".

It is generally weatherproof, but not fully waterproof. It does come with a rain cover though that will protect your pack and gear in the rain.
