Garmin 010-01689-00 overview

  • 1Description

Get real-time run stats with wrist-based heart rate data using the black Forerunner 35 from Garmin. This GPS-supported running watch shows you distance, pace, and heart rate data on its 0.93 x 0.93" display. An accelerometer is built in, so you can still capture running data when you're running indoors without the need for a separate foot pod accessory. In addition to running data, the Forerunner 35 also works as an everyday wellness and activity tracker. It counts your steps, calories burned, monitors your sleep quality, and will cue you to move when you've been sitting too long.

The Forerunner 35 enables you to share all your run and activity data and monitor your progress at Garmin Connect, Garmin's free online community, where you can plan, save, and share your activities. Download the Garmin Connect Mobile application to your compatible smartphone and all your activity data can be automatically uploaded from your Forerunner 35 to Garmin Connect.

The Forerunner 35's rechargeable lithium-ion battery lasts up to 13 hours in full training mode and up 9 days in watch mode. It can store data from up to 7 different activities, so even if you can't sync right away, you won't lose any important information. Additionally, the Forerunner 35 is designed to withstand water pressures equivalent to a depth of 164', so you can take it with you in the rain, snow, and sunshine.

Run Your Heart Out
Forerunner features built-in wrist-based heart rate as well as GPS that tracks your distance, pace, intervals, and more. And because all these stats are captured by the Forerunner 35, the watch is all you need — no phone or chest strap necessary.
Activity Tracking All Day and Night
Thanks to its extensive activity tracking features, the Forerunner 35 records your steps, calories, distance, sleep, and intensity minutes, not to mention 24/7 heart rate monitoring. It also watches out for periods of inactivity and gives you vibration alerts when it's time to get up and move.
Stay Connected
When paired with your compatible smartphone, Forerunner 35 offers the convenience of smart notifications right on your wrist. Stay connected to family and friends with the live tracking feature, which lets them follow your runs in real time. Forerunner 35 also keeps you up to date with automatic software updates, and it allows for music controls and more on your device.
Customize and Connect
The Forerunner 35 allows you to automatically upload your stats and runs to Garmin Connect, Garmin's free online fitness community, where you can review your progress and even share via social media. This free software is available for desktop or on your smartphone with the Garmin Connect app.

    Garmin 010-01689-00 reviews

Forerunner 35 GPS Running Watch with Wrist-Based Heart Rate (Black) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect comfort and functionality My old Soleus started acting up so I searched for a replacement. This time I wanted a light, functional and simple to navigate watch. Because I have a Garmin Forerunner 201 for my bike (and like it a lot) I gave the 35 a try. It was also reasonably priced at $169. I really like this watch. I Run then after it asks if I want to save. Then I get all stats as they scroll by. It monitors heart rate and is so easy to use which is a great improvement over Soleus. It also made my bike 201 obsolete in that I can choose to set my watch for any activity from running to biking to swimming. Great watch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Forerunner for the Beginner to intermediate runner/walkr I have been in a search for a Beginner/Iintermediate running-GPS watch for about 7 months. I have tried and tested the following watches, Forerunner 735XT, Fenix 3 HR, Apple Watch Series 1, Vivoactive HR, and even the Polar M400. As a intermediate runner/jogger, I really thought I needed all the advanced running dynamics found in the Fenix 3 and FR735XT, well I found out that I most certainly didn't need it need them. The FR735XT felt really cheap for $449, I would highly recommend it for it any serious triathlete, but no one else. The Fenix 3 HR is a monster, Looks good, but a a price, it will not fit inside dress shirts with the cuff buttoned. Had so much stuff I never would need, or even want. If you are a wilderness nut, that needs to bread crumb his or her way back from god knows where, this is your watch. Also the HR was the worst out of all that I tested. Apple Watch S1, well it was a joke, no serious runner should ever run with it, let alone buy it. (Coming from a huge apple guy since 2001) Apple Watch 2 looks promising, but the battery dies to fast. The Garmin Vivoactive HR, probably the best gps watch I tested, Great touch screen, accurate HR, nice fitness tracker, ok display, multisports up the Kazoo, but the running program was extremely watered down, No virtual pacer, No intervals, walk/run alert would only buzz, no audio alarm, Glonas/GPS was a nice option, touch screen not responsive during sweaty treks. Vivoactive HR also was pretty ugly, probably the ugliest out of them all except for the Polar M400. Garmin Forerunner 35 - It is the Forerunner that you have been waiting for, forget spending $329 for the FR235 with HR, this does almost everything the 235 does and has a better screen for night time viewing, and in the home. Main differences are... FR35 has Virtual Pacer, which compares current pace to target, FR235 has V02 max estimate, Recovery advisor (I can tell when I am ready for the next run myself), and Race predictor (I can pretty much mathematically guess when I am going to finish vs this thing telling me). Color screen isn't that nice and very hard to see during the night. Connect IQ (customizable watch faces, widgets, etc) I tried a few, they were just ok. In a nutshell, this gives a average runner everything he or she will need to train, run races, and look good (as good as a gps watch will allow you to, at least) Pros - Virtual Pacer, its a great feature that helps let me know how far ahead or behind I need to be. Interval Trainer, This is a Must for a Walk/Runner/Jogger, Beeps loud enough that I can hear it through headphones or hear over a DJ (runDisney Events etc) Smart notifications (displays email, text and other alerts when paired with your compatible phone) Battery lasts around 5 days, with 4 training runs and notifications turned on. Band - looks good, feels great. GPS - Works like a charm, fast sync (within 10seconds) Treelines never an issue for this bad boy, great job Garmin! Garmin Connect - great to link up, with mapmyrun and others. Cons No Color Display, but I knew this going in Not as customizable as some would like, if coming from the Fenix 3 Not for super runners, or triathlons Wish the band was a little larger. Guys, This thing is a great little companion for your quest to be a better jogger, run/walker, or intermediate runner. Just get it. ( Not a paid Review, like rizknows) Take care guys, and see you on the road.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good product I was looking for a sport watch and chose Garmin after had I bad experience with Polar. I made some research before and this model (Forerunner 35) was one of my top choices. I exercise daily - gym, cardio, run, bike - and this watch has monitored for all exercises I normally do. The heart monitor is on pulse, so I don't need to wear a strap on my chest anymore. For outdoor exercise I can't complain. The GPS works really well, the heart rate works well, etc. But for indoor exercise I had some problems with the acurase of the heart rate. Sometimes I was tired, with my heartbeat around 120, but the watch stopped on 89 for sometimes and then goes to the right number. It's like it crashes for a moment. That's my only complain. It's confortable, the design is simple, I use all the time to contabilizar my steps too. I strongly recomend, especialy if you exercise outdoor most of the times.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing GPS Eventhough it takes a while (not over 3 minutes) for the gps to activate, and therefore let you start the activity. It is really great! I manage to do a 50k ride and it recorded everything with no errors.
