All headlamps leave your hands free for tasks, but the blue H05 Active Headlamp from Olight is so hands-free, you don't even have to touch it to turn it on – you can just wave a hand in front of its motion sensor to activate or de-activate its white LED.
The H05 Active offers 10, 30 and 150 lumen output levels. To protect it from overheating, the headlamp automatically lowers the output after 10 minutes on high power, stepping down gradually to 90 lumens. The small red LEDs are mainly to indicate the wearer's position in the dark, but do provide some illumination, and won't disrupt night-adjusted vision the way white light does. There's also a flashing setting for the red lights.
The lamp can be adjusted to four positions: 10°, 25°, 35° and 50° below horizontal. The white LED's TIR (total internal reflection) lens provides optimal light transmission.
