Available here with a Sigma SA mount, this super telephoto lens lets you capture distant subjects, and with a speedy Hyper Sonic AF motor users will be able to easily track fast action. A relatively fast maximum aperture of f/4 furthers your imaging potential with excellent illumination for a lens of this class. One SLD and two FLD elements help ensure outstanding optical performance by minimizing aberrations and distortion while a Super Multi-Layer coating combats flare and ghosting. Also, this lens is equipped with an Optical Stabilizer system that compensates for up to 4 stops of shutter speed.

Does this lens still suffer from AF issues on Canon RF mirrorless? (I heard there was a software update).
Asked by: Keyanv3
No, Sigma released the Version 2.03 firmware update for the Sigma 500mm f/4 DG OS HSM Sports Lens, which "has improved the AF speed when used in combination with Canon mount adapter EF-EOS R series attached on Canon EOS R5 and EOS R6" mirrorless cameras.

Narrow band filters are also called light pollution filters or natural night filters. This NiSi 46mm Natural Night Filter is compatible with the Sigma 500mm f/4 DG OS HSM Sports Lens for Nikon F.

Is the manual focus mechanical or focus-by-wire?

Is the manual focus mechanical or focus-by-wire?
Asked by: Jacob
With this lens you can manually focus with or without power while in manual-only mode or auto focus/with manual override mode. While there is no hard mechanical connection to the focusing elements, there is a clutch which allows manual override even in auto focus mode. If this was focus-by-wire, you would need electricity from the camera to do any focusing. For birders who use their DSLR's as spotting scopes for long periods of time who need to conserve the camera battery, focus-by-wire is a concern. For photographers that have a mirrorless camera, it is a moot point for they need power simply to see at all.

Asked by: Bruce
You would need to have something along the lines of the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R (https://bhpho.to/2wL8wZY) to adapt EF lenses to an RF body.
