Telrad Reflex Sight with Mounting Base
Key Features
  • Provides Unmagnified True View of Sky
  • Red Triple Concentric Ring Reticle
  • Large 2.5x1.4" Viewing Window
  • Precise Infinitely-Adjustable Rheostat
Invented in the 70's the Telrad Reflex Sight was the first of a new kind of finder available to amateur astronomers. Outfitted with a generous 2.5x1.4" viewing window it provides a wide unmagnified true view of the sky — unlike conventional finder scopes that offer limited fields of view presented upside-down and backwards. Three concentric rings — spaced at 4°, 2°, and 0.5° — provides an easy point of reference for locating objects and quick navigation when manually star-hopping. An easy-to-use, infinitely-adjustable rheostat enables precise brightness control so users won't hurt their night-adjusted vision. A mounting base is included, and the sight easily detaches from it for storage or to move it to another OTA with a separate mounting base already attached without requiring it to be re-centered with the OTA.

The Telrad Reflex Sight with Mounting Base (B&H # TERSIGHT) should mount on just about any curved surface with the included double-sided adhesive tapes or via the two pre-drilled mounting holes.

How to mount to Celestron 20x70 Binocs?

How to mount to Celestron 20x70 Binocs?
Asked by: Blaine
I attached it to a spotting scope by using two large (about 3") hose clamps to secure the base to the scope. It worked well. I would think that you could attach it to one side of the binos the same way. This made lining up the scope to the moon, planets, and other stuff much, much easier. You might put a piece of cloth between the clamps and the binos to avoid scratching the surface.

question

Will this telrad be able to mount to an orion dob? Or will I need a special adaptor?
Asked by: Steve P.
The mounting base will mount to anything with a curved surface. It uses 2 strips of double sided tape (pre-attached). Just peel and press. It also has 2 pre drilled holes if you want to secure it with screws. There is a slight issue with it: the mounting surfaces are angled slightly toward each other, to better fit a curved surface. If you try to mount this on a flat surface (using only the tape) not all of the tape will make contact, weakening the joint. With a Dob, screwing it in is your best bet. Just remember to angle your tube down when you do this, to avoid accidentally dropping something on your mirror! Otherwise, this is an awesome finder. I also use the 4 extender to give me a little more headroom. Hope this helps.
