Gitzo GM4562 Overview

The GM4562 Series 4 Monopod from Gitzo is a 6-section, lightweight carbon fiber support designed to be the most compact and travel friendly monopod within Gitzo's line up. Utilizing Gitzo's patented G-Lock Ultras, the GM4562 has the ability to support up to an impressive 77.2 lb while weighing just 1.5 lb.

Reaching a maximum height of 60.6", the GM4562 is suitable as a general use monopod ideal for nearly any situation. Its true advantage lies within its 6-section design, which allows the monopod to collapse down to an easily packed 17.3" in length. As all Gitzo monopods, it features a reversible 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 mounting thread for adding an optional head if more height or articulation is needed.

Maintaining Gitzo's reputation for strength, the GM4562 utilizes 6X Carbon eXact tubing and patented G-Lock Ultra designs to ensure professional performance without the bulk. The 6-layer carbon weave allows the monopod to maintain maximum strength while keeping weight to an absolute minimum, while the G-Lock Ultras also add to the tubing's strength by providing a rigid connection between leg sections and protecting the joints from dust, dirt, and moisture.

At the monopod's base is a redesigned rubber foot that features a pivoting ball-joint for smooth tilts and twists. Users may also remove the foot if necessary and replace it with optional rubber feet or an optional metal spike. The GM4562 also features Gitzo's standard textured hand grip for enhanced ergonomics and a removable wrist strap for increased security.

Gitzo GM4562 Reviews

Disappointed in height

I really like everything about this monopod except its height. I used it with the Wimberly gimble head for monopods.  I am 5’6” and it does not extend enough to allow me to shoot up at warblers and birds in trees. 60” is not high enough. I have tolerated it for 1,5/ years, but I am tired of the frustration when I need to shoot up. (I use a Z9 and a long lens like the z800mm.  I will now have to buy yet another monopod to get more extension.

OK

Looks solidly made, but is challenging to screw/unscrew the sections without totally separating the collars. Handling strap is poorly designed compared to the main part of the product.
