    Samsung 960 Evo reviews

500GB 960 EVO NVMe M.2 Internal SSD is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 108.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding drive, beware of the Magician software/spyware Speedy, speedy, speedy as others have said. Runs warmer than I expected. But read below... Before installing Samsung's Magician software, BE SURE to read the terms - don't just click through. Some of the worst spyware ever written since Windows 10. They want you to accept that they will hoover endless data off your machine and sell it to whomever they please, tied to your IP - your contacts list, calendar, browser history, purchases, installed software, EVERYTHING. If you deny it online access with your firewall, it won't load. Spyware of the worst sort. Just SHAMEFUL, Samsung! Seriously. What the hell is wrong with you people?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic SSD with Astounding Read/Write Capabilities I use this for my OS and system applications, and I have never seen read write speeds at this level. It's astounding. I took one star off of design because while I have not had an issue with it, Thermal Throttling in high end desktops with heat is a very real risk with the M.2 drives. I really wish Samsung had provided some form of heat sink, or other cooling solution, luckily many of the new Motherboards coming out, are providing heat shield/sinks for M.2 drives. Oh i forgot to mention this thing is tiny. like smaller than laptop RAM tiny. If you are a performance junkie, or just need a new SSD. This is the way to go.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performs as Advertised I have been very pleased with the performance of this device thus far. I installed it as the primary drive on a new system build based on a Z170 Deluxe mother board running a Core i7-6700K cpu with 64 GB of RAM. The system is used primarily to process photograph and o light video editing, and has proven to be both reliable and fast. The Samsung 960 EVO is used as the primary system drive and performs very well. It seems to run relatively cool and the processing speed while not as high as those published by Samsung are generally 90% of the published values and sometimes greater. All in all, while new to the market, this device seems to be a good buy at this point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from King of all M.2 PCIe SSDs... continues 950 Pro legacy Review of 500GB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V6E500BW) Installed on Dell XPS 15 9550 This drive is an absolute beast! It took me about 5-6 hours in getting around installing it because of AHCI/NVMe driver issues, but once installed oh boy! There's no stopping it. Even the heaviest of the applications i.e Adobe Premiere Pro CC and After Effects CC loads in 3-5 seconds. Absolute delight to work with this drive installed and saving me time every time. The drive is a must buy for anyone looking for speed. You notice the snappy performance every moment you're working with this installed, be it boot, be it installation of programs, be it running heavy media files, be it extracting, be it Photoshopping. There is no reason to go for PRO version of this unless you want your drive to outlast 5 years or are a daily user who does 40-50 GB writes/day (video editors maybe). This drive is perfect for 98% of the audience who is contemplating between EVO version or PRO version of Samsung 960. Please see my screenshots for speeds with Samsung NVMe and without Samsung NVMe driver. Sammy NVMe driver offer slight bump in speeds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly fast, incredibly easy! What else is there to say other than this drive wash easy to install (no SATA cables, no power wires!) and is incredibly fast. I previously had an older 120gb Intel drive as my boot drive and the little Windows 10 loading circle would make 4-5 revolutions before reaching the Windows desktop. With this drive, the Windows 10 logo flashes, I never see the loading circle, and I'm already into Windows. This is not even on a clean Windows install either, I cloned my old drive onto this one. CrystalDisk benchmarks all fall within spec as well for read speeds and write speeds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazingly Fast - much needed for video editing I bought this SSD specifically for adobe products, and thanks to Samsung, i'm finally getting the speed improvement, Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro start up speed increased and video previews and scrubbing videos in After Effects has never been so smooth, with previous HDD I had to wait for long time but not now, windows 7 also starts up within few seconds. This tiny looking SSD is so small that it looks like a built-in part of motherboard. Also thanks to B&H for shipping internationally, otherwise I wouldn't have it, because its not available in my country.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blazing Speeds An NVME SSD is very different from a normal SATA SSD. It's 3 times faster and with a very small footprint. I recommend you buy the retail version of the Samsung SSD so you will get the 3 year warranty and the Samsung Magician software. The OEM version doesn't have a software and the warranty is only one year. The software is important because it will help you upgrade the firmware. This is my second Samsung NVME SSD and I highly recommend them. The price difference from other brands is less than $10.
