    Samsung 960 Pro reviews

    512GB 960 PRO M.2 Internal SSD is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 55.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Freaky fast boot times Set this up as my new OS drive; love it. Computer has never run better. *NOTE* If you plan on using the 960 PRO as a boot drive: You cannot simply clone your current OS drive and have your PC boot from the 960 PRO, you will need to do a full install via an ISO file to get it to work properly (Couple web searches will point in the right direction). You will be spending a bit of time in BIOS getting this thing properly configured, IF you want to use it as a boot drive, as there is no actual install software written for these yet. Took me a couple hours to get it all worked out, totally worth it; YMMV depending on tech skill level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very fast Have this in an MSI GT73VR. I don't game, but battle some sizable data sets with a bit of GPU compute. The speed advantage over a regular SATA SSD is fairly palpable, and the benchmarks were consistent with reviews. Is this worth the extra money over the EVO line of M.2 PCIE or the Phison controller versions? Probably depends on your usage. Heat: mine sits underneath a heatsink intrinsic to the laptop designed to cool up to 3 m.2 drives, is distant from the CPU and the GPU, and sits in a laptop with the fan set above the auto baseline as I don't mind the noise. As such, mine doesn't throttle, but it could-check the reviews based on your setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy with performance Drive has been working extremely well with an older H97 chipset with PCIe Gen 2x2 on the M2 slot. Read and write are bottlenecked by the older M2 slot to about 800MB/s in and out, still better than I would get with SATA 6. I can definitely tell a difference in speed over the older 840 EVO that it replaced. I'm still considering an M2 PCI card but for now am very happy with as is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As fast as I've read. I had read positive reviews indicating this M.2 was one of the fastest currently available and that's the truth. I upgraded a Dell OptiPlex with this drive and it improved performance noticeably. There had been some stories about problems installing the 960 Pro into a Dell. It took a few specific steps in a certain order to get it fully installed, but I did get there, running on the Samsung driver for optimum performance. The big thing is to switch from RAID to ACPI in the BIOS before installing the 960 Pro. Also removal of the Intel RST driver so that only the Microsoft driver is active. Once those two things are done, then the Samsung driver can be installed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great V-NAND Fantastic SSD speeds twice as fast. Game loading times instant. Great as single or in RAID. Also Low Temp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Made A Video Review Please see my video review where I benchmark the 960 pro to two 840 EVOS in RAID0, and I also threw in a HDD comparison as well. Enjoy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not perfectly compatible my motherboard Although this SSD is not compatible with my motherboard, it may still be a good SSD for other computers. My motherboard is Asus X99-A II. I talked to Asus tech supports many times, finally found out that, X99-A II is not compatible with 960 Pro. Everytime, when I need to reboot my computer, I have to manually completely switch off the power, and switch on again, then the motherboard can recognize the SSD, and boot from it. I tried to update drives of both motherboard and SSD; however, the problem is still remain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's an m2 nvme ssd from samsung... As expected, insanely fast. I guess the only word of caution is that the m2 screw and standoff is usually provided by the motherboard, so make sure you have the right screw. The right screw size is: 2 x 3 mm (CM2x3-3.3). My motherboard allows 3d printing so I added a 40 mm fan and fan holder to keep things cool, but reviews said that the 960 doesn't throttle even under load, so I wouldn't worry about that.
