Spend a few minutes pumping up the sit-on-top style Straitedge Inflatable Kayak from Advanced Elements and you'll be ready to navigate lakes, coastal waters, and rivers up to Class III whitewater.
Measuring 9 feet 8 inches long with a 35-inch beam, the Straitedge is constructed of sturdy, puncture-resistant PVC tarpaulin material with five separate air chambers for safety and can support up to 300 pounds. The aluminum ribs and hard edges in the bow and stern improve tracking in open waters, and self-bailing ports can be opened to drain water from the deck in rough conditions.
The Straitedge comes with a high-backed, padded seat, bungee deck lacing, and rod holders. Advanced Elements' Spring valves make it easy to attach the pump hose, and paddle holders are located on the sides. Pump and paddle are sold separately.
You can't fit a hard-shell kayak in most car trunks or closets, but the Straitedge packs down to 30 x 17 x 10" and weighs 34 pounds – a portable and packable watercraft you can take just about anywhere.
