Pretty stable rig, not too bad to carry

The rig is very solid in all joints and connections and overall feels pretty stable. The adjustment range is limited: I have the slider moved all the way up and I'd like to move a bit more. The mount plate is clearly designed for the camera only: the rotation stopper is just a bolt head sticking out, does not work for the foot of a lens collar. But that's OK because the slide is too short for a long lens to be mounted on it anyway. The camera doesn't really rest on the shoulder (not enough weight is balanced behind the handle so the best stability is obtained by pressing the rig into your shoulder like a rifle. The wire part of the rig flexes slightly when you do that. That brings me to an observation that, while this is an OK device, a good rifle stock with a camera mount likely would have done better.

A perfect fit for my Panasonic 4k camcorder! So happy with B&H for sending my valuable updates with products I use and need. I wouldn't shop anywhere else!

Used this for filming a tennis tournament for a documentary. It worked well, and I think is well built. Having the handle sub as a handle for a camera works good too. I also bought the counter weight; after an hour or so it can be a little on the heavy side. Use of your opposite hand (set up for right shoulder, use left hand...) makes it more stable. Had no problem with the height (Sony PXW-Z90). Good for short time use of maybe two or three hours max. Stable enough for all of my shots. Good product.

Headed for the Garbage Can

A big disappointment. Very poorly done. The camera mounting plate lacks an anti-rotation pin, leaving the camera to rotate freely on its 1/4-20 screw which attaches the camera rather loosely to the plate. The shoulder part is not U shaped and thus does not hook over your shoulder. Due to the way the weight is distributed, the whole rig wants to slide forward on your shoulder so you are constantly having to press it against your body. If you dont constantly press it against your body there is nothing to prevent it from sliding forward, completely off your shoulder and SPLAT! There goes your precious camera. I strongly advise avoiding this item.

Get the strap.

As a videographer who typically uses Ronin, I thought this may be a step up from handheld and it is but it's no ronin. Similar application as a monopod though without the tall pole to move around when switching shots. Great for rack focus though IBS, warp stabilizer, and sniper style breathing may help keep it steady. Get the strap! Couldn't find one available when I ordered though without it you're basically just pushing the support against your chest, otherwise it'll just fall to the floor (doesn't wrap around your back or anything). Without the strap, i held it like a handheld camera while keeping some pressure against my chest. I also paired it with Peak Designs Slide - a camera sling strap - for a similar effect. All in all, dope piece of gear for a low price. Great for starting out or as a quick grab stabilizer.

I pair this with my Sony FX3 and it's great. Super affordable and takes no time to put your camera on it. I don't need anything elaborate for my little camera. Definitely recommend for DSLR and mirrorless cameras

Yes it will be. This is a very nice choice for a basic handheld support for the 5D Mark IV.

question

I have the Opteka version of this rig the CXS-1. The Opteka counterweight is not available anywhere. Would the Revo Counterweight for SR-1000 v2 (4.6 lb) work on the Opteka?
Asked by: Roland W.
I am confident the counterweight will attach. However, owing to differences between the two shoulder pieces, you may have to bend the attachment plate more to get a more body fitting angle.

I know the question about counter weights has already been brought up but...Why are their bolt holes on the back end of the shoulder pad?It appears as though there's supposed to be something back there... like a counter balance weight.

question

Will this work for a Sony FS700r without extra viewfinder?
Asked by: manuel m.
The load capacity of the REVO SR-1000 is 5.5 pounds. The Sony FS700R with Kit lenses weighs right around 5 pounds, so you can use this rig with the FS700R. However you will not have much room for additional accessories. You may want to consider stepping up to the Revo SR-1500 (B&H # RESR1500) which has 30 pound load capacity. It will give you a lot more room to grow with an FS700R.
