Revo SR-1000B overview

  • 1Description

The Revo SR-1000 Shoulder Support Rig, in black, is designed for the run-and-gun style of video shooting and enables smoother camera movements than are otherwise possible with a handheld setup. Weighing just 2.25 lb, the SR-1000's lightweight, ergonomic design helps reduce fatigue for prolonged use. The rig supports a maximum capacity of up to 5.5 lb, which is suitable for DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, and small to mid-sized camcorders.

The shoulder support pad is reversible, for right or left-handed configuration, and the assembled rig is forward, backward, and height-adjustable. The foam-padded handle can also be detached for use as a standalone support for lightweight cameras. The SR-1000 is an essential tool for adding a professional level of polish to video projects, especially when using a camera with ergonomics better suited to still photography.

    Revo SR-1000B reviews

SR-1000 Shoulder Support Rig (Black) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 115.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from simple and useful I picked this up on the go for more or less $ Dollars from B and H one day a couple weeks ago, and immediately paid for itself while I was shooting a live music festival. This is a simple rig, lightweight but durable, with some versatility in terms of use. I'd recommend it especially as a first shoulder rig, especially for beginning and intermediate DSLR videographers. The only drawbacks are that there isn't really room for a second handle, and that if your goal is to build a major rig in the longterm, you need something much nicer. This is really basic, and can only take you so far -- but you can really do a lot with it, especially for the price.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent shoulder support I have the shoulder support setup for use on my right shoulder. I'm right handed and sort of left handed sometimes. When it comes to shooting video I would like to zoom in and out with the right hand and use the left for support or panning. With a DSLR on this support that's going to be tough as your right hand is occupied holding onto the handle and can't be used to zoom or focus. I can see the screen pretty easily when attached to the rig and I do think it makes it easier overall to manuever, but the rig might be better suited to a camcorder rather than a DSLR. The rig was silver and kind of a hot pink rather than red, but I kind of dig that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's great. But it's pink. Very durable, great build quality. Very solid. Not very customizable, but it's not supposed to be. All in all great. But it's pink. I'm not talking well if I squint it looks KINDA red... no. It's 100% flaming hot pink. With a metallic sparklyness. Ugh. I tried to take a picture of it to show my brother and it looked redish in the picture so it's hard to show people unless it's in person. I would recommend investing in a can of matte black spray paint and taping off the rubber grip on top. It's pretty easy to give it a paint job. 24hrs later you've gone from Hello Kitty to Batman.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Good 2-Point Support Rig, But Are 2 Points Enough? With a little IKEA-style assembly and a curse or two, it was done: a two-point shoulder support rig, meant to stabilize a camcorder or DSLR for video shooting through shoulder placement and a single hand grip. The Revo SR-1000 does what it is advertised to do. The issue, though, is whether a two-point rig is as good as a three- or more-point rig (I have a 3-point JAG35 basic rig with TWO hand grips; it was much more expensive at $339). I tried my two rigs out against each other and there isn't much difference in the feeling of stability -- but the nod has to go to the 3-point over the 2-point. So I don't know how much I'll end up actually using the SR-1000 on run-and-gun shoots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what you need It's refreshing to receive something you have purchased and receive exactly what you expected. It is a solid product that is easy to put together and keeps up for a good long shoot. It's very easy to adjust as well. I used it for a big old Sony DCR VX2000 and a tiny Canon T2i DSLR. Worked great for both. Only thing I would say I don't like so much is the front hand grip unscrews a bit easily while you are moving around and shooting with it, becoming a bit loose. I don't really see a way to stop this from happening. It doesn't happen frequently enough to seriously detract from the product though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clunky in a good way For the price, it's a very solid piece of equipment. All metal (except for pad). However, it does sit a big oddly on my shoulders because a shoulder slants while the support is flat. I don't see how they could fix that without molding it to either the left or right shoulder. The rig itself is a bit heavy, but again, I don't worry about it breaking and my camera coming off. Also, it does balance when put down vertically. I haven't used it much yet. I'll probably tie a weight on the end to balance it perfectly on my shoulder. Revo apparently sells a weight, but I'd rather create a DIY solution to get it perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value product When many similar products literally seem to cost in the hundreds of dollars, I was absolutely amazed by the level of quality of this product. For the price I was frankly expecting that it would be close to a disposable or at least short term use-product. The built quality is great.Maybe I wish it could be customized a little bit more, especially as far as height to make sure that your eye lines up right with the camera. But you can get creative and solve this with cheap add-ons, a battery grip, etc. Also thought the product was RED-ish in the picture, but at least mine turned out to be pink-ish.Again, for the price, I have ZERO complaints!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great support, but... This is a solid little piece of equipment! I set up for use on my left shoulder and had no problems with that. What I did have a problem with, unfortunately, was with the frame. I only use the EVF and I could see the rig's frame in every shot, due to the fact that the camera had to be as far back as possible. I thought about having the end cut off, but decided that may throw off the balance too much. And I agree with other reviewers that you should have counter-balance on the back. If you do not use the EVF, then yes I would recommend this product. As long as I zoomed out some, it was highly supportive.
