AER COMPACT-SLOPE Overview

Designed to provide 60W of amplification through its 1x8" twin-cone speaker, the Compact Slope from AER is a two-channel combo amplifier geared toward acoustic guitarists who prefer to have their sound coming up at them from angle from a stage's floor. Because of this amplifier's 45° slope, placement of this amp on the floor will allow you to hear your sound better from a standing position. It's modeled on AER's Compact 60, giving you a dual-channel operation quite suitable for singer/songwriters, with independent tone sections for your guitar and your voice.

The front panel allows you a conventional 1/4" instrument input for channel one, while channel two utilizes a combination jack, and thus, allows for both XLR and 1/4" connections. Channel one provides gain, bass, middle, and treble controls, as well as a high/low selector to suit various types of pickups. The Colour button activates a tone-shaping filter, changing the behavior of the mids in relation to the high-frequencies. On channel two you'll find gain, bass, and treble controls, as well as a selector that allows you to choose between mic and line inputs.

On-Board Effects
A comprehensive effects section allows you to access two types of reverb, a delay, and a chorus, with the level knob dictating the dry/wet signal ratio.
Parallel Effects Loop
Should you wish to utilize outboard gear, you can do so through a parallel effects loop, the output of which can be blended, at varying degrees, with channel one, channel two, or any combination thereof—all via the pan knob.
Phantom Power
This amplifier provides phantom power for condenser microphones on channel 2, though this feature can be disabled by means of an internal jumper. Conversely, phantom power can also be instantiated, through an internal jumper, on channel one.
Clip Indicators
Clip indicators on both channels let you know when you're playing too loud for the amplifier.
Rear Panel Connectivity
Turn your attention to the rear panel and you'll note a bevy of connection points-no fewer than seven, in fact. You'll also find connections for headphones, a 1/4" line out, a tuner, a footswitch, and your effects loop. Lastly, an XLR output allows you to feed a DI to a mixer, interface, or PA system.
