Roku Premiere+ overview

  • 1Description

Access over 3500 channels of entertainment with the Roku Premiere+ Streaming Player. Once plugged into a display's HDMI port, the Roku Premiere+ will connect to the Internet via its dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi or Ethernet connectivity and is controllable via the included remote control or an Android or iOS smart device app. It outputs to one HDMI port at up to 4K resolution with HDR on compatible displays for an enhanced viewing experience. The included remote control features service-specific shortcut buttons so you can find your service of choice in an instant and Wi-Fi connectivity to the Premiere+ so you don't need to point it directly at it.

Note: Content acquired via certain apps may require subscription to a service. Not all apps or services are available in all areas. Hotel & Dorm Connect requires a wireless-connected phone or computer, power adapter, Roku remote, and a previously activated Roku streaming player. The 4K experience requires a compatible 4K TV and 4K content. 4K content will not be available on all channels.

Stream blockbusters, broadcast TV, entertainment brands, and niche channels at up to 4K resolution on your compatible display. The Roku Premiere+ works with Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu, VUDU, Sling TV, and PBS KIDS. Easily access over 350,000 movies and TV episodes across over 3500 paid or free channels.
With a quad-core processor and 802.11ac dual-band wireless connectivity, the Roku Premiere+ gets you to your favorite shows fast, with responsive navigation and channels that launch quickly.
Get the visual rush of 4K Ultra HD streaming at 60 fps with a compatible display. The Roku Premiere+ delivers 4K quality that's designed to immerse you in the action with crisp, life-like images.
Get rich, realistic color detail – even in dark shadows and bright highlights – when you stream HDR content onto a compatible display. HDR displays a wider range of colors, brighter whites, and deeper blacks to create more natural imagery.
Roku Premiere+ includes a remote that transmits its signal over Wi-Fi so you don't have to aim at your display.
The spotlight channel makes it easy to find and access 4K and HDR content.
Watch what you want, when you want, while keeping things quiet for everyone around you. Plug the included headphones into the remote for private listening or use your iOS or Android smartphone or tablet and the Roku mobile app to enjoy private listening anytime with plug-in headphones.
Cast music, photos, and videos from your iOS or Android smartphone or tablet right to your display. Share and enjoy slideshows and movies starring you and your friends and loved ones.
The Roku mobile app offers voice search, so you can just use your iOS or Android device to find what you're looking for and get fast and comprehensive results by title, actor, or director.
Night listening mode reduces the maximum volume and boosts the minimum, so you can avoid waking up the whole house during loud scenes but still hear everything clearly during quiet ones.
Take your entertainment on the go. Move the Roku Premiere+ to different displays in your home or take it to a friend's house. Hotel & Dorm Connect even lets you stream on the go, in your dorm or hotel room. Just use your Roku remote and your smartphone, tablet, or laptop with a web browser to connect your player, sign in, and start streaming.
Unbiased search across top channels – find where it's free or cheapest to watch.
The Roku Premiere+ features a microSD slot for additional channel storage.

    Roku Premiere+ reviews

Premiere+ Streaming Player is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would recommend this product to anyone. I bought and used Roku streaming devices to primarily stream international channels--that otherwise require the use of a satellite and a country-specific cable box--and also to stream some programs that cable companies do not provide, for instance Giniko+, the Great Courses to name a few. The quality of the images is very good. However, some international programs are not streamed smoothly, but are often interrupted by loading symbols such as loading 33%, 99%... For me it's a minor nuisance, but overall, I like Roku products: the price is right, and the quality is very good!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Everything I Want in a Streaming Device It connects to ethernet, I can listen through headphones, it has 4K capability, I can cast from my phone or tablet to the Roku, and it has /so many/ available streaming options. I have absolutely no reservations about buying it. It is much faster and more reliable than my old FireTV Stick, which occasionally skips and randomly restarts. However - I wish the channel buttons on the remote were programmable, as I don't use Sling or HBO.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Problems with operation The unit loses connection to the services after being idle for a few hours. Must be unplugged from power and restarted. Support site provided no or inaccurate answers Was easy to install but confusing to use without trying lots of trail and error.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't waste your time! Poor functionality, customer service I was very unhappy with this product. 1. It didn't have a USB port so I couldn't use my Logitech Wireless Keyboard with Netflix. 2. It wouldn't support my Logitech Harmony One programmable remote Playstation 3 knows how to do it because it's an RF remote, not infrared. 3. On-screen instructions incorrect leading to lost hours and two calls to India with ladies with thick accents; I had trouble understanding them, and they me. 4. Remote not lighted; it would be heavily used but hard to find in the dark of my man cave. 5. I returned it and bought a PlayStation 3 which has an excellent streaming interface and also is an excellent Blu-Ray DVD and 3D player, and works with the Harmony remotes. I can't see why anyone would want this over a Blu-ray player with internet apps built in. Not recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and Simple to Use, although highly customizable Great player that is much faster to connect to Netflix/Amazon/etc. than my Blu-ray player. It is nice to be able to customize the apps (channels) that appear on the Home page, including their order. The Roku Media Player app (i.e., channel) seems to be a good job playing media stored on my local NAS (via DLNA), although it does not support MPEG2 encoded via (hence I bit the bullet and have used Handbrake to batch convert all my old MPEG2 videos to H.264 in MP4 containers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT PRODUCT! I had a Roku 2XD a few years ago. It did a great job for me but after a couple of years it would not power up so I had to chuck it. I now have a Roku 4 and 2 Roku Premier + devices and they are fantastic. Much faster and more responsive interface and easier to use. The earphones burn up batteries pretty quickly but overall I think they rate 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Great upgrade to the Roku XS. Faster, better WiFi power, and of course Netflix Profiles! Glad the remote doesn't have voice search. Too much of a privacy issue. Cons: Roku makes people sign up with an account now. Initially it seemed that they even demanded a credit card on file, but it was actually possible to be bypassed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value It's hard to say enough about the Roku. This is my third one, but I went with the Premiere for my UHD TV. I also bought an Express for my kitchen TV. Netflix, Amazon and Sling are my go to apps, and I'm never disappointed or without something to watch.
