Olympus BLH-1 reviews

BLH-1 Lithium-Ion Battery (7.4V, 1720mAh) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 42.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Consider buying several extra batteries Consider buying several extra batteries. Especially useful when learning how to use all the new camera features you will burn through a battery quickly. Quoted test results indicated battery lasts for 444 shots but I understand this testing is done with use of flash and a lot of LCD review time. Real life you will probably get many more shoots for each battery.Camera has a very detailed measure of battery life on the screen so as to prevent sudden surprises that your battery is dead. The extra battery has a great plastic case so it is easy to carry several in your pocket or vest.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Improved capacity over previous generation I used the BLH-1 batteries for three months now. I get significantly more shots/usage than I did with the corresponding BLN batteries used with the Olympus OMD EM-1. I've also used them in moderately cold weather (around freezing) with good results. These are the only coded batteries available for the OMD EM-1 Mark II, and Olympus certainly charges a premium for them. Hopefully, there will be some reasonable 3rd party options in the future. Olympus needs to manage their supply chain/inventory better. I waited two months after ordering to get an additional battery from B&H as there was no inventory in the entire USA during that time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only thing missing is stand alone plug-in charger The battery and EM 1 Mark II are a fine combination. My only regret is the lack of a stand alone charger for the BLH-1. I'd like to dump the cumbersome power cord and proprietary charger that come with the camera in favor of a charger that plugs directly into a wall socket. I'll get one as soon as one is available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A huge upgrade from the older OM batteries Long life, much quicker charging, and actual feedback from the charger in terms of progress (via blinking lights). After 4 years with other OMDs the difference is startling. Realizing that people use batteries at different rates based on settings and how they use their cameras, I am very comfortable now with 2 batteries instead of 3-4. I shot consistently for 2 days with 70% of one battery. I don't tend to use the LCD much (keep it folded in), and my review setting is '0', but I leave the camera powered on and I transfer the photos every day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from They match the quality of Olympus' new camera, great! These batteries are currently the only horse in the race, given the fact they are for Olympus' new OMD e-m1 mkII so there is little to which they can be compared. They work fine and they definitely last longer than their predecessors (BLN-1 & 5) however they don't last any where near as long as claimed (all day), at least not for me and the way I shoot. They seem to live up to the quality of Olympus' new camera which says a lot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So good it's almost not needed I almost didn't purchase a second BLH-1 for my E-M1 Mk2, as so far I've been astounded by this battery's long lasting capacity--I've already logged in over 800 shots on all-day shoots, with still some charge left in the battery. Then again, I've been foolish enough to have been left in the past (with other cameras/batteries) with amazing photo opportunities and dead batteries, so I bought this one as a back-up. Plus, with the speed of recharging, I doubt that I'll ever be needing a third, even when traveling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well, it is a battery. It is the battery option for the OM-D MK II. It works, however, take a spare with you if you are out for the whole day. The elaborate operation of the camera combined with frequent use of the back panel takes its toll on electricity consumption.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Last a long time?reliable! This battery lasts quite a while. With my older camera and a smaller battery, I'd have to have one battery in the camera with 2 spares for a full day's shooting. With my new OM-D E-M1 Mk II, this battery lasted all day. Great upgrade, Olympus.
