Offering a more comfortable grip along with extended battery life, the HLD-9 Power Battery Grip is dedicated to the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II mirrorless camera. Featuring a well-matched physical design, this battery grip duplicates the control set of the camera body for more intuitive settings adjustment when shooting in the vertical orientation, and includes a secondary front dial, shutter button, rear dial, two function buttons, a vertical shooting lock, an OK button, and an arrow pad. The grip also matches the durable construction of the camera body, and is dust, splash, and freezeproof to support shooting in trying environmental conditions. Beyond a more ergonomic and intuitive means for handling the camera, this grip also supports the use of an additional BLH-1 lithium-ion battery to effectively double the battery life while shooting. Alternatively, an AC-5 AC Adapter can also be paired with the battery grip for virtually indefinite power via 100-240 VAC.

Nice Battery Grip
It fits the camera body and my palm perfectly, very useful when shooting vertically.
Great Addition to the OMD Em1 III
This does enlarge the camera, but the grip from the add-on is absolutely superb. This makes the camera supremely ergonomic and well balanced.
A good grip, but NOT able to charge batteries like an M1X
This grip is almost as comfortable to shoot with as the built-in grip on the M1X, making my M1 Mark III a usable backup to the larger camera. It lacks a multi controller but does have the arrow pad (the opposite of the M1X), and it has two programable function buttons that can be mapped to AEL/AFL and ISO if you want to mirror the Mark III layout. The front and rear dials match the camera. Adding the grip makes controlling the M. Zuiko 100-400 IS much easier. Please be advised that this grip CANNOT charge the batteries in the grip and camera when connected to the Olympus AC-5 AC Adapter. That only provides in-studio operating power, not recharging capability. Only the M1X is able to recharge its batteries directly from the AC-5. An annoyance, but not a deal-breaker.

Perfect for portrait orientation for sports
The HLD-9 on my E-M1MarkIII is a perfect addition to make shooting sports in portrait orientation. I should have bought this a long time ago. I use back button focus and when I connected the HLD-9, it automatically knew that the AEL/AFL button was my back button focus. It's also easier to hold the camera with my long 40-150 Pro lens.
Big Hands?
This renders the EM-1 easier to handle for those of us with larger hands.
