Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H9 Overview

  • 1Description

Styled in black, the Beoplay H9 Wireless Noise-Canceling Headphones improve upon previous iterations in the H series to provide high-fidelity wireless audio, utilzing upgraded Bluetooth 4.2 wireless playback with low-latency aptX. Active noise canceling allows for a quiet listening experience, while the lambskin-covered memory foam earpads help assure a comfortable fit. Also, polished and anodized aluminum plates on the ears allow you to operate the touch-panel controls more easily (whilst you're wearing gloves, for instance).

All of the headphones' functions—including the answering of phone calls, the attenuation of volume, and the playback of tracks—can be controlled via the touch panel on the earpad. An integrated microphone allows you to take calls hands-free, while the replaceable, rechargeable battery provides up to 14 hours of Bluetooth playback with the noise-canceling features engaged. A 3.5mm audio cable is provided for passive listening (should your battery run out on the go), as is a micro-USB charging cable and a carrying pouch.

The active noise cancellation provided employs two microphones to capture and measure all the ambient noise surrounding you, and conversely, to cancel these noises out with the opposite signal.
Lambskin-clad memory foam provides a comfortable fit while polished, anodized aluminum is responsive to the touch.
Bluetooth 4.02 with aptX codec gives you high-fidelity sound, whether listening to music or on talking on the phone.
Touch Control
An intuitive touch interface gives you full control of all functionality. Turn your music on and off, answer calls, switch Active Noise Cancellation on and off, and much more.
Carefully selected cow leather finish. Everyday wear and tear adds patina.

Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H9 Reviews

Beoplay H9 Wireless Noise-Canceling Headphones (Black) is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST SOUND EVER As a music and radio commercials producer, I want headphones that will transfer the quality of sound i'm used to in the studio to a headphones. At first i was a huge fan of bose speakers. I have bought their home theaters and headphones as well. Recently i bought the QC35 wireless noise canceling headphones from bose and thought nothing could beat them. Then i saw a bunch of great reviews about the Beoplay H9 and thought I'd give it a try. Bang & Olufsen have become a synonym for fashion and premium audio video tech. They spend so much time combining fashion style and technology and with the H9 that's exactly what they did. The sound quality of H9 is second to nothing. The lows are on point, the mids, and the highs are just as you'd want them to sound like. They're very comfortable on my ears even when I'm listening for long hours. My biggest concern is the volume, Maybe it was done on purpose but some how i feel like they need to crank it up a bit using firmware update. Another thing is the carrying case; as much as I love the little soft bag that comes with it, i feel like the case for bose CQ35 is way better and protects the headphones better than the H9 cloth. Other than that i think these are the best headphones under 600 dollars and yes I'd recommend them over CQ35 or anything of that range.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing quality and warranty service I chose these H9's over the Sony MDR1000x set mostly because of physical comfort--I wear glasses and the MDRs caused uncomfortable pressure on my temples. But in almost every other way, they are vastly superior. The noise canceling is much more advanced than the H9, the bluetooth connection is more reliable (automatically reconnects if you leave the room and come back), the sound is equivalent or better, the controls are better. After only a couple of months of use, the H9s stopped being able to pair, and B&O phone support determined there was a hardware issue involved. I sent in my very lightly and carefully used set, only to get conflicting information back from the warranty team. At one point they even emailed me that they had lost my headphones. Finally, they sent a pair of Factory Certified headphones. Apparently this involves little more than tossing a pair into a cardboard box with loosely packed cables: my pair had noticeable wear and was dirty. There's nothing like someone else's earwax on your new $500 headphones to make you question your life choices. I would stay away from these unreliable headphones, and also this company that takes a low budget attitude towards their warranty service. Wishing I had stuck with the Sonys.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good audio, bad bluetooth leads to $500 for refurbished pair Note* B&H is outstanding, no complaints there.  On the other hand, B&O is a company I will never buy from again. The pros/cons of the H9s:  Audio and build quality is superior. The noise cancelling is gentler than bose, and that is my preference as I am quite sensitive to the tone from bose/sony NC headphones. And being able to turn off NC is a great feature. While some of the controls make no sense, volume control and NC on/off are fantastic. The earcups are soft and comfortable, though the headband has no padding, and after long stints of wearing these headphones I start to feel it on my skull. Theyre also pretty heavy and dont scale down well, in fact theyll slide right off when I tilt my head downwards.  Main gripe: THE BLUETOOTH DIED IN LESS THAN ONE YEAR, and B&O warrantee dictates I receive a refurbished pair as a replacement, instead of a new pair. So, I paid $500 for a refurbished pair of headphones.  On top of that, I know 3 other people who have different bluetooth B&O headphones and theyve all lost the ability to connect via bluetooth within a year.
