The red Element Monopod from Manfrotto is a compact, 5-section, aluminum support designed for use with DSLRs, mirrorless, and compact cameras under 33.1 lb.

The monopod's simple 5-section design allows it to be used at a variety of heights culminating in a maximum height of 59.1". When each section is fully collapsed, the monopod is only 16.3" in length and weighs just 1.1 lb, an easy size and weight for transport and travel. Its twist-lock design allows the monopod to maintain a slim profile and just a 1/2 turn of each lock will unlock or lock each section in place.

In order to accommodate both monopod head users and direct-to-camera mounting the base plate features a 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 reversible screw surrounded by a rubber anti-friction padding. A foam grip and leg warmer has also been integrated into the design to protect the user's hands from extreme heat or cold that may alter the temperature of the aluminum frame. A hand strap has also been included to increase safety and an interchangeable rubber and spiked foot is included for using the monopod on varying terrain.

Element Aluminum Monopod (Red) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really like it so far I bought this to have a lightweight alternative to my heavy duty tripod for hikes and day trips. The monopod collapses to a really manageable size that can fit easily outside on my camera backpack. The unit has a good feel to it, not flimsy at all like some other units on the market. The locks can be very quickly loosened and tightened, making set up a very quick job. The convertible screw on top is easy to change. I have just bought this and have not used it a lot yet, but so far it looks like I will be getting good mileage out of this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Manfrotto quality. Im getting a little older and needed a monopod to help steady my shot when not using a tripod. Also to be able to use it where tripods are not permitted. If you want to get one of the many monopod folding feet for this monopod you will have to purchase the KM 3/8 to M8 adapter from B&H part #KMTAZCB. This monopod has an M8 thread instead of the more common 3/8 thread. Most of the monopod feet add-ons have a 3/8 thread. I got the adapter mentiontioned and it works well. Oh yeah the quality and construction of the Manfrotto monopod is excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would purchase this item again This is a great item. I purchased this for heavy personal use. I selected this item for a few reasons. Taller than most units, lower weight for the size, heaver camera capacity, collapses done to a size that is very manageable, and the cost was very reasonable. For these reasons I thought it was a good purchase. Now that i have it I feel that I made a good buy, works great

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for travel I bought this tripod for travel. Already have a Manfrotto quick release monopod that I prefer to use, but its minimum length required a suitcase at the maximum size allowed by the airlines. The new monopod compacts to 10 inches shorter, and easily fits in smaller suitcases. The only problem I have had with the quick release monopod is that the bottom section sometimes locked so tightly that I had to use a visegrip to unlock it. I solved this problem for 75 cents with an auto hose clamp that can be tightened and released with a small screwdriver or a coin (see image)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased with this purchase Like others, I purchased this to have an alternative to my tripod. I could not be more pleased. The difference in weight, a few ounces, between this and the carbon fiber version was vastly offset by the price difference. Also, as others have stated, it is very sturdy. The twist locks may not be as smooth as a $1000 Gitzo tripod, but I don't see that as a problem. Also, it becomes very useful as a walking stick when the terrain gets difficult. Coupling this with a Sunwayfoto DDY-641 Discal quick release Clamp makes it easy to switch between vertical and horizontal shot. And it is a lightweight, easy to carry, alternative to a tripod. I have used it several times in the last month on extended hikes and could not be happier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight but can handle heavyweight. So far so good. Small / compact but sturdy and can hold up over 30 pounds. I would recommend this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Sturdy I've been using an older silver 3249 Manfrotto Monopod for years and love it, so that is my standard of comparison. I have a trip coming up where I will have to put it in my suitcase, and since my old one only collapses to 23" with head I was looking for something smaller. This one hit the mark. I was surprised at the weight rating and how sturdy it was, especially since it is five sections. The twist locks are probably a bit slower to extend, but are much less likely to get caught in brush, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy I did a lot of research on monopods and was prepared to spend a lot more. However, I decided to just give this one a try. I'm very happy I did. I haven't been able to use it a whole lot yet. I did get out a couple times, though, with a big 70-200 lens. It's very sturdy. I like the hand grip and strap. The closed length is small enough for me. It's light and easy to use.
