Nice compact box camera, but misses the mark on mounting,
I'm not a fan of Bullet or Dome cameras, too many hassles to mount them and position them and the lack of decent flexible lenses for various zoom settings depending on the area to be covered. Then there are the exposed cables (when outdoors) that have to be enclosed in a small weatherproof enclosure which isn't necessary with 'box' camera enclosures, either store bought or custom made as I did. That's why I choose 'Box'. I had a size limitation with one of my enclosures and it appeared that this would fit. But, it didn't. I didn't factor the lens cable jack that wasn't recessed like my former Bosch Dinon cameras had which was just enough to put that over just less than 1/4. But as far as the rest of the design, I'm puzzled that there weren't internal mounting threads on the top and the bottom of the camera like many other box cameras. Instead there were only two small thread holes in the top pf the camera for a separate mounting plate with a standard threaded hole for the mount. Flipping the camera upside down required changing two settings (mirror & flip) inside of the OSD menu from off to on to correct the position. Not a deal breaker, but still an annoyance creating more steps during the install. The power block terminals were screw type making that easier than those spring clips one would have to use a small screwdriver to press so the wire could be inserted. The joystick for the OSD is rear mounted, but I found it was far easier to use the control thru the DVR. The quality was a huge improvement, especially for nighttime use. Those Bosch camera were top of the line at the time, but technology surpassed them.
Great replacement camera
I needed to replace an existing camera. I needed a camera to accept a 5-50mm lens and a camera to accept 24VAC power. So far the camera is working well and as a bonus I have a better image using TVI 1080p instead of CVBS 960H.
