Rated 5 out of 5 by from SWEET DEAL!!! I use this product in EERY possible environment possible! I shoot Beauty, Glamour, Alternative, Portraits and more!i swear by these, i actually had an incident on 2 shoots where my strob fell from full stan dextension from a quick unpredictable gust, and the fall didnt affect the light one bit! it has happened to 2 of the 3 i have purchased. i was hesitant at first, as i was eyeing the alien bee systems, but these lights more than make me happy for the time being! great build, consitent lighting, versatile and economical!!what else can u ask for!-@

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Well Built - Comes Up Short I'm using the unit to photograph flowers. This is a well built unit. The Full, Half and Quarter settings are very accurate. The metal snoot is great (sold separately). I had a plastic snoot melt on me the other day when I forgot tourn-off the modeling light. There are some issues with this unit. It's real power output (rated at 160) is less than my cheap'o strobes which are rated at 100. Sync does not work on my unit. With my Sekonic light meter connected to the unit it would not fire. The sync cable is fine. This is not a problem for me because I will be using it as a slave. I'm using the unit exclusively with a snoot. There is a design flaw with the unit in combination with the snoot. Since the unit uses a standard 60 watt light bulb as a modeling light with the snoot mounted the bulb blocks a lot of the light coming from the strobe light. It knocks the light down by a full stop. The other issue is that the modeling light does track its output with the strobe light. There is a separate switch for the modeling light. It's not bad unit. It's just not on target for what I expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for small studio Having a small studio what I needed was a little punch to give my portraits what they needed. The excalibur 1600's do just that. You can adjust the strenght of the lights and they connect to a wireless system easily. The other good thing about these lights that they are light enough to be able to take anywhere. My only negitive is that I didn't get the set of lights with the bag which would make moving from location to location much easier

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Affordable power These strobes are well built units and sturdy. Never had a problem with them so I can say that they are dependable in as much as they haven't needed to be sent back for poor quality. Its a 1600 so 160ws is correct but a good match would also be to have a 3200. Its better than expected for the price.
