Darkglass Electronics DAR-DFZ Overview

The Duality from Darkglass Electronics is a fuzz pedal intended for use with electric bass. It combines two discrete fuzz circuits, allowing you to mix a gated sawtooth wave with a grittier, high-gain tone. With this variable combination, you can create a wide variety of fuzzy distortion tones.

A Level knob controls the overall output volume, while a Filter knob dictates the amount of high-end cut you'd wish to introduce into your sound. In addition to the Duality knob, which fine-tunes the blend between the different fuzz circuits, a Blend knob controls the amount of dry signal you'd like to retain in your overall sound. A buffered bypass ensures your tone won't degrade over long or faulty leads. For ecological reasons, the pedal does not run on batteries, but rather, requires a regulated 9V power supply.

Controls at a Glance
Level
The knob sets the volume of the overdriven signal.
Filter
This knob controls the amount of high-frequency content in the fuzz signal.
Blend
This knob mixes the clean input signal with the overdriven signal. The clean signal remains at unity gain while the volume of the overdriven signal is set by the Level knob, allowing for fine control of the blend ratio.
Duality
This knob mixes the two discrete fuzz circuits. Set it at minimum for a pure gated sawtooth wave, or crank it up for a tighter, high-gain fuzz.
Buffered Bypass
The buffered bypass won't only preserve your instrument's natural tone—it also aims to correct any possible tonal problems caused by faulty/long leads.
