Bundled together by B&H for your convenience, the Lectrosonics Portable Digital Recorder Kit is designed to give you everything you need to record voice-audio remotely in a high-quality, digital manner—doing so with a portable digital recorder and a hearty, water-resistant omnidirectional lav microphone. The recorder captures audio on SDHC cards at the broadcast standard (24-bit/48 kHz) and outputs BWF files. Time-code jamming via the 5-pin LEMO connection allows you to sync audio with video in a relatively straightforward and convenient manner; as such, this kit is suitable for actors on set, interviewers in the field, and other people/scenarios requiring free-roaming audio recording for video purposes.
The recorder offers servo-bias preamp, especially useful for the provided Sanken COS-11D microphone, as it bestows the power necessary to run the lav. Furthermore, the recorder sports a TA5M input jack, a 3.5mm output jack, a durable machined-aluminum construction, and a compact design for hiding it on an actor's body. It runs on AAA lithium batteries.
The lav, on the other hand, sports a TA5F connection point, making it eminently compatible with the recorder. It also provides a normal sensitivity level, an omnidirectional polar pattern, a wide frequency range, and a cable nearly 6' in length. The microphone has been optimized to overcome digital transmitter RFI; indeed, it has been shielded for this purpose. Additionally, its water-resistant design protects against the elements of on-location recording, such as humidity, perspiration, makeup, inclement weather, and more.
