The Lenovo ThinkServer RD450 Server System is designed for enterprise environments by featuring a 2.1 GHz Intel Xeon E5-2620 v4 processor along with eight 3.5" bays so you can create virtual machines sharing a storage pool of data. The Intel Xeon E5-2620 v4 processor features 20MB of cache memory, comes with eight cores, and offers speeds of up to 3 GHz while running demanding tasks. For improved performance, the ThinkServer RD450 can also accommodate a second Intel processor, letting it handle a greater amount of users. Additionally, one single stick of 16GB DDR4 ECC RDIMM is installed, and its sixteen RAM slots can hold additional memory modules to process multiple tasks simultaneously.
The ThinkServer RD450 is capable of supporting 3.5" hard drives that run at speeds of up to 15K and have a SATA- or SAS-based interface. 2.5" SSDs and HDDs are also supported with adapters. Once drives are installed into the RD450's hot-swappable drive bays, you can install an operating system from Microsoft, Red Hat, or VMware. Aside from the OS, the RD450 sports a hardware RAID 110i controller that lets you configure your drives in a RAID 0, 1, or 10 array. Moreover, RAID 5 is available by purchasing an optional key.
Visuals are processed utilizing an onboard Aspeed AST2400 graphics system with 16GB of video memory and delivered via two VGA ports. Networking is achieved by two Gigabit Ethernet ports, and two PCIe 3.0 x8 slots are available so you can add optional 10GbE adapter cards. Other notable connections include two USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports as well as single serial port and an Ethernet port for system management. There's also a 750W Plus-Platinum power supply on board, and a second sold-separately power supply is supported so you can provide the ThinkServer RD450 with redundant power.
