Really Right Stuff TA-2-QC QUICK-COLUMN Overview

The TA-2-QC from Really Right Stuff is a variable, rapid center column that can be added to Versa Series 2 tripods in order to increase their versatility and maximum height.

The process of installing the column is simple, just remove the tripod's original base-plate, mount the center column in its place, and then reattach the base-plate to the top of the center column. Installation is so simple that removing the column is just as easy. If you're traveling and need to reduce your tripod's weight, or need to utilize your tripod's minimum working height, just take out the center column and reattach the base-plate in its original position.

In terms of technical specifications, the TA-2-QC features a native length of 12.3" and weighs just 9.1 oz. When attached to a tripod it provides 9.4" of total travel distance from lowest position to highest position. A threaded mount on the bottom of the column retains the use of the ballast hook which may be reattached from the base-plate after the column is installed.

Very solid.

Got the shorter tripod, because it essentially works for me and folds up shorter. The versa setup allows a center column. I'm 5'9, so with the gimbel it's just about right. The center column allows me to add an inch or two.

A tripod for everything with this column.

Right: a bit more weight but one thing very important for me is the possibility to reverse the column without removing the base-plate. Just flip out the column from its holder and pass it by the bottom side (I don't use the hook, one piece less to remove). You'll be able to use your tripod for macro with the camera almost on the ground if you want. It's really practical not having to bring a mini shaky tripod for this kind of photography and having everything in one.

The Really Right Stuff TA-2-QC Series 2 Quick Center Column does not come with the ballast hook. You can use the one that came with the tripod. If you need the hook, it is the Really Right Stuff Series 2, 3 & 4 Versa Tripod Hook, BH #RETA3HK (https://bhpho.to/42IeVVP).
