Dedicated to the Sony Alpha a7 II, a7R II, and a7S II, the BA7R2-L Set L-Plate from Really Right Stuff is an Arca-type compatible plate that facilitates easier, more stable switching between horizontal and vertical shooting orientations when working atop a tripod. The L-shape of the plate also benefits shooting in vertical orientation with panorama nodal slides, for maintaining a consistent nodal point, and shooting in horizontal orientation with side-mount gimbal heads. It's design also moves the battery door to the plate, ensuring easy access to the battery at all times. A gasket seals the battery compartment opening for protection.

This plate set features a modular two-piece design that includes both the dedicated base plate and an L-component, which combine to form a dedicated L-plate. This versatile configuration offers the same support as a one-piece L-plate, with the added ability to remove the L-component for a slimmer overall profile when needed. The custom-fit design also maintains full access to the battery door, and built-in tool storage makes it easy to remove or attach your plate when needed. Additionally, the CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum construction is finished with a Type II black anodizing, a 1/4"-20 threaded mounting socket is featured on the base, and laser-engraved center marks are placed on both axes for easy alignment.

BA7R2-L Set L-Plate for Sony a7 II Series is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent except for 2 flaws I've been RRS system user for about a decade. Usually their products are flawless but every now and then there are significant issues and missed opportunities... I use this BA7R2-L set (have two of them, actually) for my A7Rii an A7Sii bodies. The bottom plate is perfect. The L-component, however has 2 issues: 1) with the L-component is the close-to-the-body setting, it's all but impossible to open the headphone jack door. It's so close to it that you simply can't open it without some sort of a thin metal hook tool and then it's hard and really easy to scratch/damage the door... this is impractical when you are in the middle of the video shoot anyway. 2) there is nowhere to store the small hex key for the L-bracket. RRS usually goes through a heap of trouble to make sure their brackets incorporate storage for they hex keys, but this ones doesn't have it. Bummer since the size of the key is not a common one like the for the main crew. Otherwise, this is the best plate you can get for A7Rii/Sii bodies given the other features like full length to provide better grip (this alone makes it worth the price), incorporate battery door, and provide additional attachment points for strap loops.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits like a glove. Like it was made by Sony. The Right Stuff BA7R2-L bracket, for the A7II, is well made & fits perfectly. Works like all other RRS L-brackets on my BH-30 with mini screw knob clamp head (mounted on a Manfrotto Befree tripod). You need to remove the battery door on the camera. Easily done, with release lever and set pin on the Sony A7II. The bracket has gasket material on the battery holder surface, to help prevent moisture entering camera --- once the bracket is attached. With battery door placed on L-bracket, you do not need to remove bracket to replace battery. Nice. :) The allen-head wrenches needed for its set screws are held in a magnetized holder. Very cool! I did not top the top of the bracket to the camera strap ring (for added attachment strength). You'd need to remove the strap. Which I did not want to do. The bracket is quite strong and secure, even without fixing it to the strap holder. The bracket adds another 1/2-inch to overall height of the camera. Color and finish compliments the camera. It does NOT look like an option, but rather part of the camera. Anyone with an A7 or A7II (and prolly the R and S models, too), that uses a quick release an ARCA style quick release mount, should consider this L-bracket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product - strongly recommended! Very well designed and manufactured. Perfect fit. Gives the A7rII a very solid and sturdy base. The Arca base is slightly decentered towards the back (compared to the Sunwayfoto L-bracket on my A7II), leaving more room for adapters like the TechArt Pro, although I haven't tried it therefore I cannot guarantee it would fit. The set I received, contrary to description, has spots in the bracket, on magnets, for 2 supplied hex keys. Darn expensive though but impeccable...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Sophisticated L-Plate I use this bracket on my Sony A7ii and it is extremely well engineered and the tolerance of this bracket is nothing short of amazing. It provides a secure way to mount the camera to a tripod horizontally and vertically (the main reason I purchased it). Access to all of the ports is preserved and the battery door being physically relocated into the bracket was such a clever idea. There is also a hex screw that mounts the plate to the left side camera strap holder which adds extra rigidity to the plate. This renders that side of the camera strap useless but fear not, RRS took this into account and had a strap holder built in to the left side so users still have the ability to add the strap. The bracket acts as a protective case when it is off the tripod therefore I have left this bracket on my camera since day one. Amazing work by RRS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best L-Plate, for the Highest Price This plate is essentially perfect. It's extremely well made with tight tolerances and a superb finish. The built in tools are super handy and I love the fact that you can extend the side out to allow for cable clearance when mounted in the vertical position. Obviously, that quality and convenience comes at a cost, and RRS isn't afraid to charge a premium. I'd say try to buy one used, but folks will probably never sell it after they try it out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from If you need it It's designed well and is pretty useful if you use a side mount often. For me, however, I switched to a Peak Design system for their backpack and belt clips, so I ended up selling this one. After I had the RRS L bracket off for a couple days I realized how much I like the camera more without it. The A7Rii is a nice size and weight. This L bracket makes the camera taller and wider and for me that's not preferable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for!! The RRS L bracket for A7ii set lives up to the hype, it’s a superbly engineered bracket. If you want the best you have to pay for it, but it’s literally worth every penny, I just wish RRS products were more a accesible the UK, but with BHP’s superb service it’s no great shakes to order online, I ordered on the Sunday, the package arrived on the Wednesday! Thanks again for your great customer service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RRS great Quality I bought the RRS angle bracket because the Sony A7Rii camera is very small and I have very large hands. I didn't like having 2 fingers hanging off the bottom of the camera. It gives me greater stability with heavier lenses, not to mention a very stable lock with a good tripod head.
