Really Right Stuff TH-DVTL-55 DOVETAIL PLATE Overview

The TH-DVTL-55 Dovetail Plate from Really Right Stuff is designed to mount to the bottom of ball, panoramic, and Gimbal-type heads that do not exceed a base diameter of 2.75".

The CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum plate has a black anodized type II finish, and the plate mounts to a head via a 3/8"-16 mounting screw. Additionally, the plate is not completely flat, it has a thin lip around the perimeter of the base. Safety stop screws are located under the plate to prevent accidental detachment from the clamp.

I used to purchase from RRS all the time. Not anymore. We have so many options with the same quality or better from other brands. The reason I gave 3 stars is because they are saving material on these TH-DVTL-55 and the -40. The same nomenclature from the old ones that had a round base all around with the dove tail under it. Now, they removed the round base made of one piece solid aluminum run on a CNC machine. Want to save money? create a different one with a different nomenclature make it cheap but keep the original for customers that care.

Is it able to be adapted to the clamp of Gitzo ...

Is it able to be adapted to the clamp of Gitzo 3382 DQ ball head? The safety screw position on the clamp of 3382 is bias from center line a little bit, so need to confirm this feasibility.

I use mine on the RRS BH 55; works fine on this ball head. Doesn’t answer your question. Suggest you call really right stuff. they are good about answering questions

Will it work with any camera? Why is there model specific plates for example REBD850BP?

This is a universal plate for all cameras and there are camera specific plates. Some cameras don't have dedicated plates and so there are universal plates to use, also some folks have multiple cameras, instead of getting a bunch of camera specific plates, they can just get a universal plate that will work with all of their cameras.
