Dedicated to the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/4G ED VR and AF-S NIKKOR 300m f/4E PF ED VR lenses, the LC-A12-PKG Lens Collar and Foot Package from Really Right Stuff bundles the LC-A12 Collar and LCD-10 Foot to replace the original tripod collars on these lenses. The LC-A12 is designed to eliminate bumping or chatter when loosening the collar to rotate the lens, which reinforces stability and control for more precise and efficient operation. The LCF-10 foot features an Arca-type compatible dovetail plate, and has a lightweight, low-profile design for more mounting flexibility. The foot also incorporates a Quick Disconnect (QD) mounting system point for attaching a strap directly to the foot.

Both the foot and collar are constructed from lightweight CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum, have a Type II black anodized finish for long-wearing durability, and integrate a 1/4"-20 threaded accessory mount.

LC-A12-PKG Lens Collar and Foot Package for Nikon 70-200mm f/4G and 300mm f/4E PF is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Agree with Brad I found the same thing with the 300 f4/E - D500 combo. Reversing the collar allows the lens to balance correctly on my RRS gimbal. It also balances nicely when carried with a BlackRapid sling strap by mounting the eyelet to the 1/4-20 fitting on the collar. Build quality is typical RRS-excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed At first I bought a ball head because my new Nikkor 300mm lens did not include a collar. I hated the ball head and was relieved to learn about this RRS collar and foot. It is exactly what I needed, allowing me to use my Gimbal tripod head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great balance for Nikon 300mm PF I got this to use for birding and dogs with a Nikon 300mm f/4E PF telephoto lens, the TC-14E III teleconverter and a Wimberley WH-200 gimbal, all attached to a Nikon D500. The collar is smooth and snug, and permits the whole package to be balanced so that the camera stays put without having to tighten up the knobs on the gimbal very much. Since the 300PF is light and short, the collar balances best (particularly on the 500D with teleconverter attached) if it is installed "backwards." Reverse-mounting the collar is just a bit tricky because the foot base of the collar unit bumps into the camera body during mounting, requiring that the collar either be installed after the lens is mounted to the camera, or loosened so that the lens can rotate in the collar during mounting. But once installed and mounted, the whole unit works great together. It's a huge improvement over mounting the camera on a ball head (or trying to shoot freehand). This combo provides the full frame equivalent of a 600mm f5.6 lens in a unit that measures less than 10 inches from the front of the lens to the back of the camera body. Like everything else from Really Right Stuff, the collar and foot unit are rock solid.
