Really Right Stuff BC-18 MICRO BALL CLAMP Overview

The BC-18 Micro Ball Head from Really Right Stuff is lightweight and ultra-compact, which makes it a nice addition to your camera bag for travel photography or video needs.

The ball head's 1/4"-20 male threaded mounting post will fit into any bracket, cage, or video rig that contains a 1/4"-20 female thread. The screw-knob style clamp can hold most Arca-type compatible plates, and has a load capacity of up to 10 lb. The articulated ball joint has 45° of movement in four different directions, and it locks into place with the locking lever located right under the ball head.

The CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum Micro Ball Head has an black anodized type II finish, making it wear- and corrosion-resistant.

I needed this micro ball clamp for a specific platform with 1/4-20 threads to hold a binocular. The BC-18 is great for the application I needed it for and is 100% stable for the item(s) I am mounting to it. The ball lever lock works well. It's is a bit cumbersome to get to the ball lock, but that is what happens when you mount a larger item on top of a micro ball.

How to mount this head on the RRS TVC series?

I just made a quick trip to Home Depot and purchased a 1/4-20 threaded coupling, similar to what you would use to join threaded rod. 2 pack was $.98. Works great!
