Yongnuo YN900 Bi-Color Overview

At 10.2 x 7.4 x 1.9", the Pro LED YN900C Bi-Color Video Light from Yongnuo is an asset on-camera or off. The light has color temperature variable from 3200 to 5500K for easy integration without filters with either tungsten or daylight fixtures or ambient light conditions. The Pro LED YN900C has a beam angle of 55 degrees the output of which can be contoured and controlled by the included 4-way barndoors.

Power is handled by the a separately purchased AC power supply, but the light can also run on optional NP-F Sony-style batteries when mains power is unavailable. Control options offer another wireless solution thanks to the inclusion of a remote control and an App that permits use of your smartphone as a remote with a 98.4' range. The LED YN900C includes CT filters for light balancing as well as an easily attached handle for handholding.

Exceptional light with a couple flaws.

I have been using a couple of these for a couple years now and just LOVE them, especially for the price. It's great to be behind the camera, and adjust the brightness and color temperature from behind the camera. The app could use a few adjustments. You can only brighten and dim each of the color temperature LED's, not both at the same time. It would be nice to pick a temperature (say 4600 for example) and then dim the light. Instead, you have to dim the 5500k lamps, and then the 3200k lamps, so it is difficult to get back to your desired temperature after dimming. The fan turns on and off by itself, as the light heats up and cools off. And, the fan is loud enough to be picked up during interviews. It would be nice if the fan would just stay on so you could adjust for it. I found a solution, but it takes time and effort - that is replacing the fan with a quite one.
