Effective support for the CN 18-80 or 70-200mm lens

Given the physical nature of the above 2 lenses, finding a support that will work is not an easy task. The Zacuto support works, but it is outrageously priced, and the fact that it does not come with the inexpensive mounting screws is rather absurd, considering that it is designed for specific lenses. And then there was the problem of finding a base-plate whose rod holder provided adjustable height. After several unworkable purchases I'd settled on Zacuto's own VCT plate that works. If it had been offered at a more reasonable price point, and had come with the mounting screws. I would have give it 5 stars.

Good support but not cheap

This small support does the trick, but it is expensive. Also they dont give you the screws you need that come with the rocker. Luckly when I purchased the lens 18-80 the rocker was included for free. If people are paying this much for the support I think they should include all the screws you need to attach the support.

Product only compatible with the ZSG-C10 Zoom Grip

A bit misleading on Zacuto's part I believe, as it is not explained to the customer. This lens support requires two very specific screws and lock washers (NOT included), in order to mount this lens support. These screws are not supplied with the Canon CN-E 18-80 Zoom lens either. The only way to get these special screws is to order the Canon ZSG-C10 Zoom Grip for $475.00. The ZSG-C10 Zoom Grip also comes with it's own lens support (Not mentioned or advertised or even shown), although it is not the same design as Zacuto's. This Canon lens support comes with the illusive screws needed to mount Zacuto's Lens Support. So the reason this product is misleading is that no where does it mention you must order the ZSG-C10 Zoom Grip in order to make this product work. I wanted to use this as a lens support without having to purchase the ZSG-C10. Mainly for added support of my lens. I am awaiting information directly from Canon in regards to ordering the specific screws needed to mount the Zacuto lens support. If I cannot get them from Canon I will be returning this item and seeking another alternative for supporting this lens. As a side note: The servo attached to the Canon 18-80 prevents standard lens support from being used because of it's position. This makes other solutions unlikely, and this is unfortunate considering my investment.

Doesn't include necessary screws

Doesn't include the necessary screws and lock washers to mount. Just tells you in the documentation to buy the other canon mount from zacuto and use the screws included in that part. Thanks Zacuto, for selling an overpriced lens support without the 50 cents in mounting parts.

best mount for this lens and camera situation IMHO

Makes the lens stable and much easier to get on and off the camera with less effort, also folds down so it can be affixed permanently.

Run and Gun for Canon c300 Mark II

If you want a cheaper solution for a run and gun for the Canon c300 mark II go with the Small rig shoulder mount. The only problem is the lens mount really doesn't do the trick if you want to grab the camera by the lens, so you have to over pay for this little piece to make it work. See photo.

Love it, and how to get the screws

I was irritated that it didnt come with screws and I didnt want to buy a handgrip. Got a hold of Canon, and ordered the screws through their site. Ill attach a photo of the part numbers. The phone number to call to order parts is: 866-481-2569  and you want to click the camera option. The screws are cheap. (seems to come in a three pack) Ill update once I know. I ordered 3 or the screw, 3 of the 1 washer, and 3 of the other. Hoping to get 9 of each part. All was less than 30 with shipping.

question

I have the Canon 18-80 lens on the Zacuto Z-Finder and the lens support does not fit on the rails. Does anyone else have this issue? I raised the adjustment as high as possible and it still does not fit.

this looks interesting. DOES IT REQUIRE A CENTER (MIDDLE) RAIL? or does it attach to either side rail (assuming a typical 2-rail support system). thanks!
Asked by: Christopher
It attaches to the lens and then clamps on the rail. If you use the Zacuto Kit it snaps right into the rail.
