Chrome OS
Using Linux as a base, Google designed Chrome OS to work exclusively with web applications. The user interface takes a minimalist approach, which greatly resembles the Google Chrome web browser. Chrome OS was built for people who spend a majority, if not all, of their time on the computer connected to the Internet. The only application that comes installed on Chrome OS is a special Google Chrome web browser with an integrated media player and file manager. All other applications are accessed by adding apps from the Google Chrome Web Store. Since Chrome OS relies entirely on Google's web apps and access to Google's services, it is highly recommended that you connect to the Internet to optimize your Chrome OS experience

    ASUS C302CA reviews

    12.5" C302CA-DHM4 64GB Chromebook Flip is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 94.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great computer with hardware issues I really like the computer, there are some great things about it. Really fast, nice keyboard, screen looks good. It is definitely enjoyable to use. I've had some bad luck with the hardware. I had one unit with non-functioning external speakers that was returned. My second unit is experiencing charging/usb-c port issues after 5 months. I'll need to have it repaired with the manufacturer. I wish I could recommend this computer but I can't. I'll be looking at other companies for my next machine. No problems with B and H, though. Fast shipping, customer service guy was helpful. I'll definitely buy from y'all again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great 2-in-1 Chromebook I've really enjoyed using this Chromebook so far. Immediately switched it to the Dev channel and was able to add Android apps. I use it at the office, at home, and traveling. Keyboard is fantastic to type on, and the backlight is really useful. Touchscreen and touchpad are both very responsive. Build quality is great too. For performance, I haven't had any issues. Visuals are fluid, and I haven't seen any lagging. I also really like the USB type C ports for charging and peripherals. Now I only need to carry one charging solution for both my phone and computer. I definitely recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Good Value So far, so good! Works as advertised. Light, fast, responsive. Nice display. I've read about trackpad problems, but mine works fine (I've used a MacBook Pro extensively; it doesn't feel/work much different to me). I've run a few Android apps, and they work well, with only a few quirks. Keyboard has a nice feel, perhaps a touch soft, but backlit was essential. I access and share data/photos via Google, etc. and can use this with Chromecast, so USB C is fine. It may be expensive for a Chromebook, but it's a good value for fast, quality 2-in-1 laptop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Impressive Laptop An impressive laptop with a backlit keyboard, touch and rotating screen that also runs Android Apps. Everything works well though the Android piece is a little buggy though clearly will improve over time. I recommend this for people who want it for email, web surfing and Google Docs. You can also access MS Office Online for creating and editing MS Office docs though it does have limited functionality compared to the full office. Google Docs are comparable or better compared to MS Office Online. Google Docs can open and save to MS Office format. I prefer this over a low-end Windows machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast, Great Build, Long Battery Life Bought this computer to replace a dying HP Laptop. 4 months later I have a lot of good things to say about it. As I'm mainly using it as a student, I didn't really see the need in buying a mac/pc. This laptop meets all my needs and just feels great to use everyday. It definitely feels like a premium product - like a macbook air - but considerably cheaper. Highlights: 1) Excellent battery life. Not as good as advertised (is it ever?) but maybe 5-6 hours med brightness browsing. 2) Fast and easy to use 3) Solid/Sturdy Build + backlit keyboard Negatives: The lack of a USB 3.0 is a downer, you'll need to invest in a dock for conversion. That's honestly the only inconvenience I have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE Chromebook to get My first Chromebook was my Acer C720P back in early 2014. It was an excellent machine for the money and it also got me spoiled with its touch screen. I was looking to upgrade and decided to go with the Acer R13. I was had become partial to Acer and also wanted another Chromebook with a touch screen. I was incredibly disappointed in the performance of the R13. It was slow to render web pages and the scrolling wasn't smooth at all. It felt slower than my almost 3 year old C720P. I ran Octane 2.0 benchmark and it confirmed my suspicions. The new R13 scored just under 10,000. My old C720P scored 13,000. I couldn't stand the noticeable drop in performance, so I returned it after less than a week. This made me realize that ARM processors are not ready for desktop-class browsing. I saw this C302 was announced at CES and was immediately drawn to it since it has the Intel Core m3 processor. I ordered it as soon as it was available online. Let me tell you, this thing is SNAPPY. Everything you do happens quickly. Web pages render quickly and scroll very smoothly. It's night and day when compared to the R13. It's Octane score is just under 23,000. Huge difference. Even though it has a larger screen than my old C720P, it doesn't feel more difficult to handle. It's actually thinner than the C720P and seems to be lighter as well. The build quality is nice and the hinge is sturdy. You'd never think it was a 360-degree hinge if you didn't flip it all the way around. The keyboard also feels nice and the backlighting is great. I use my Chromebook a lot in the dark and it's a real treat. I'll never have another Chromebook without this feature. Android Apps are available if you switch over the the Beta channel in settings. I got several random reboots when I first ran Android apps on the beta channel. I've decided to power wash and run the beta channel without Android apps enabled for awhile. Hopefully it was a fluke and maybe I'll give them a try a bit later. Android apps should make their way to stable channel in a few months. I'm not going to bore you with specs because anyone who shops online can compare specs. What I'll say is that there is only one other Chromebook providing this level of performance at this price range. It's the Samsung Chromebook Pro (not the Chromebook Plus, which has an ARM processor like the Acer R13). While the Chromebook Pro does have a nice high-resolution 3:2 screen and the S-Pen (which is truly a gimmick anyway), it has half the storage, shorter battery life, and no backlit keyboard. It's also $50 more expensive than this Asus. In my opinion, this is the one to beat. This is among the best.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Chose this over the Samsung. Love the build quality. Great quality build, fast and snappy software. Only wish that the Google Play store was enabled with this out of the box already in the Stable or Beta mode (it's available through Dev mode though). When I was shopping for a new Chromebook, I was deciding between the Samsung Chromebook Pro/Plus and the Asus, and finally went for the Asus based on the backlit keyboard, faster processor (Pro wasn't out yet) and looks of the device. Very happy with my purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Productivity enhancer This is replacing a Acer 720P, which was a great chromebook. This one is much faster and smoother - it enhances productivity. Only USB-C ports. Thats a plus for charging (smaller adapter). But I have ordered a dongle for USB-C to USB and HDMI ports, as there are few projectors and USB keys that use USB-C. Havent tried Android apps yet, but that may be good.
