APC Essential SurgeArrest Reviews

Convenient surge protector!

This surge protector has worked well so far. I like that the outlets are on the side. I suppose this could cause some problems with larger power bricks, but I haven't had any trouble so far. It includes a screw to securely mount to your outlet. The USB ports are a nice touch, but use does eliminate some of the benefit of moving furniture closer to the outlet since they are on the front. In any case, this is well designed and I'd recommend.

Arrived promptly, Well made, simple to install and use.

I have owned previous APC Surge Arrestors for years and this is just an updated model with USB plugs so I bought it. It arrived promptly from B&H and it was a snap to install. You need a phillips screw driver to secure the APC and probably a flat blade screw driver to remove the outlet plate cover. But does it work as you dreamed, who knows? I also have whole house surge protection on my FPL meter so this is secondary protection.

ok, but side only 120VAC outlets limit power supply use

usual APC quality -- very good Bought for travel to recharge equipment & batteries in hotels, etc. unfortunately I didn't think about having only side AC outlets. Many of my power supplies have reverse configuration with ground on top so can't connect to this protector. I have a travel protector with rotating / angled connectors but not as good surge protection. so this is a compromise

Very handy

This is perfect for my trip to Kenya. I needed something I could charge several camera batteries at once and everything else had the plugs too close together. This is perfect.

What can I say? I haven’t had a lightning strike or anything to test it out but the power does flow

Great outlet now I don't have to worry too much about having too many cables being plugged in.

APC products work;  should have rotating outlet on front

I bought this for travel to use in hotels, etc. I've had tremendous success with APC including taking a lightning hit (killed the protector, but saved a lot of equipment & replaced by APC) That said, I also have a competing brand that has two rotating outlets on front allowing us of all my power supply transformers. Unfortunately, the protection specs are much lower than the APC unit. The side outlets exclude use on most of my power supplies. My only option is to construct some short pig tails to use with the power supplies. If the USB outlets were on one side and an outlet on front, this would be a 5 star product Had I paid more attention to the photo, I would not have ordered.
