Samsung NP900X5N-X01US overview

  • 1Description

Slim, lightweight, and versatile, the Samsung 15" Laptop 9 Ext works as a traditional laptop, but can also recline to 180° so you can share your view.

The 15" display has a 1920 x 1080 resolution so you can watch Full HD videos natively. It also has a normal brightness of 350 nits, but can go up to 450 nits when outdoors to reduce glare. The screen is powered by a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics card with 2GB of DDR3L VRAM.

The system is powered by a 7th Gen Intel Core i7-7500U dual-core processor. It also has 16GB of onboard 2133 MHz DDDR4 RAM, a 256GB NVMe PCIe SSD, a microSD card slot, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, HDMI, Thunderbolt 3, USB Type-A, a backlit keyboard, and a fingerprint reader. Windows 10 Home is the installed operating system.

Samsung Laptop 9 Ext

7th-Gen Intel Core i7 Dual-Core Performance
The Laptop 9 Ext houses a 7th-Gen Intel Core i7-7500U processor. Its dual cores can reach a base speed of 2.7 GHz. It can also be boosted to 3.5 GHz, thanks to Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 technology. The processor also supports Intel Hyper-Threading technology so you'll be able to multitask more efficiently.
NVIDIA GeForce 940MX Graphics
Equipped with a dedicated graphics card, the Laptop 9 Ext can handle gaming better than devices with standard integrated graphics. This means you'll be able to enable additional graphical options and crank up in-game settings so you can enjoy games in greater detail.
15" Full HD Display
The 15" display features a Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution and a normal brightness of 350 nits. However, the screen can bump up to 450 nits when outdoors to combat sunlight glare.
Thunderbolt 3
Thunderbolt 3 is a hardware interface that utilizes the reversible USB Type-C connector. Doubling the speed of its predecessor, Thunderbolt 3 features a maximum throughput of 40 Gb/s when used with compatible devices. The connector also transmits data via USB 3.1 at up to 10 Gb/s, and dual-bandwidth DisplayPort 1.2 allows you to connect up to two 4K displays simultaneously. Additionally, you can daisy chain up to six devices from a single Thunderbolt 3 port.
180° Hinge
With the ability to lay flat at 180°, the Laptop 9 Ext allows you to share what's on your display with other people without them crowding behind you.
Windows Hello
Logging in is more secure and convenient through Windows Hello from Microsoft. Thanks to a fingerprint sensor, you're the only one who can log into your laptop-all it takes is a touch.

Windows 10 Home

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Cortana
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana, can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the Internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Laptop, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information-gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.

    Samsung NP900X5N-X01US reviews

15" Notebook 9 Ext (Light Titan) is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far So Good I just received the Samsung Notebook 9,#NP900X57N-X01US, 7 days ago after a 7 week pre-order. I am impressed with its light weight, 2.75 pounds, styling, construction and specs. The solid state drive is lightening quick on startup with the fingerprint reader. Battery life is very good. In fact, I used the computer on a 7,000 trans-pacific flight to south-east Asia with power to spare. The only concern, and its minor, is the backlit keyboard could be brighter. So far so good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Ultrabook so far This is the best ultrabook of 2017, period. Light, Solid build, Diverse Ports, i7 with 16G Ram and a discrete video card. More than 10 hrs battery. There is literally nothing you could ask more. BTW, the ssd here is NVME which is 4 times faster than regular ssd.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good, powerful and light laptop This laptop is a fantastic one. It's very very light compared to other similar 15 laptops, the sensation is incredible when you take it for the first time. It's fast (CPU + SSD), and as a software developer, I have to work with some demanding software, and this little gem can handle it without any problem. The keyboard and the trackpad are very good, especially the keyboard which has a nice touch feeling. Also, the finger scanner is useful to log in very quickly. Very few minor downsides: there are no media keys, the screen is only 15 not 15.6

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I love this computer It's very light, fast and has a great screen. In 2012 I bought a 13 Samsung Ultrabook for traveling and I am still using it. Apart from a noisy fan it still performs quite well. However, it was time for an upgrade so I spent more money than usual on this laptop (I own several for various purposes). This new Samsung will be my favorite travel companion from now on. Because it's light and quiet and has an illuminated keyboard I also use it in bed - much more comfortable and stable than my tablets. The display is clearly by far the best I ever had and unlike most others, it also really works very well outdoors thanks to a very bright outdoor mode. I expected a matte screen which I usually prefer because of annoying reflections, but was surprised how well and beautiful this crystal-clear display performs. Battery life is excellent and the laptop is solidly built despite it's featherweight. The only small drawback for me is the green illumination of the keyboard which I find less comfortable than some other illuminated keyboards. Overall very satisfied and happy to have $1400.00 well spent. If I keep this Samsung for 5 years as I did my previous one, it's less than $300 a year - a bargain for how much use I make of it.
