Panasonic 45-200mm f/4.0-5.6 overview

  • 1Description

Covering an impressive range of telephoto focal lengths, the Lumix G Vario 45-200mm f/4-5.6 II POWER O.I.S. Lens from Panasonic is designed for Micro Four Thirds cameras, where it provides a 90-400mm equivalent focal length range. Benefitting the lens' reach is a sophisticated optical design that includes three extra-low dispersion elements to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for notable clarity and sharpness. Complementing the optical performance is an apt POWER Optical Image Stabilizer system, which minimizes the appearance of camera shake and is also compatible with Dual I.S. for enhanced stabilization while shooting stills or video. A linear autofocus motor is also featured, for quick and quiet focusing performance, and the lens sports a splash and dustproof physical design to suit working in harsh climates.

Telephoto zoom for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras, this lens provides a 90-400mm equivalent focal length range.
Three extra-low dispersion elements help to reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing for improved clarity and color accuracy.
Linear autofocus motor delivers fast AF performance that is also precise, smooth, and near-silent to benefit both stills and video applications.
POWER Optical Image Stabilizer minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting, and also supports the Dual I.S. function for increased stabilization performance.
Splash and dustproof design benefits working in inclement weather conditions.
Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.

    Panasonic 45-200mm f/4.0-5.6 reviews

    Lumix G Vario 45-200mm f/4-5.6 II POWER O.I.S. Lens is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fast To Focus. Ok Sharpness at the long end. A good solid lens for the money. A quick focusing lens that is very sharp below 100mm and very usable all the way up the 200mm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a useful and fun lens and I am sure glad I have it. I would not have purchased this lens but it came bundled with my G85 camera and I am so glad it did. It stays on my camera all the time. Because of medical reasons, I can not bend at the waist, but I enjoy photographing flora and fauna. With this lens, I have been able to take hundreds of pictures that I would not have normally been able to. Also adding to the 200mm length usage is the IS. Without it, I would be tied to a tripod. I take most of my pictures handheld and without dual IS none of them would be worthwhile. I know at 200mm it is not sharp out to the edge, but the center appears sharp. It may be a little soft in the center but I can't see it. If I based it on the lens reviewers, I would not have purchased but I am sure glad I have it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No weakness This lens has nothing extraordinary, but is very good for everything: image quality, handling, weight. I like a lot the focal range. On the net, this lens is often 'trashed', and I was reluctant to buy it. Careful testing, even at 200/5.6, shows that image quality is very good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good image quality. The photos this lens provides are good enough for most of my needs, and the 90-400 range is very good to have in a small, light package. and the best part, it was free as part of the G85, 12-60 combo. And having the 24-400 range covered in two small, light lenses is very good.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not my favorite not my favorite lens--I prefer the Panasonic 14 to 140mm lens better.
