ART Tube MP Preamplifier
Key Features
  • Single-Channel Tube-Based
  • Hand-Selected 12AX7A Vacuum Tube
  • Variable Input & Output Gain Control
  • Ideal as a Tube DI Box
Whether recording to 4-track cassettes or to multi-track digital recorders, the award-nominated design of the ART Pro Audio Tube MP Preamplifier allows users to obtain professional results at a fraction of the cost of comparable equipment. The hybrid design of the Tube MP allows it to add warmth and fatness to a signal, while maintaining exceptionally low-noise.

While it's primary function is as a microphone preamp, the Tube MP is also a great direct box - impedance matching, amplifying and improving the sound of any instrument. The usage of external mic/line preamps has become increasingly popular over the past several years. The unit offers better performance and sound quality over that which can obtained from the "on-board" preamps included in many of today's low-cost mixers and multi-track recorders.

Quality sound combined with features like a 12AX7a tube, variable input/output levels, phantom power, and phase reverse are what have made the Tube MP a staple in many studios. For a minimal investment, a Tube MP can provide the single largest improvement to the sound of a studio.

Hi , can use and record for instruments too?

Hi , can use and record for instruments too?
Asked by: chan thar
This device is generally intended to receive input from an XLR microphone, amplify it, and send output to a 1/4" "DI" (direct input) jack of a mixer or instrument amp. Having said that, there is also a DI jack in this device, which allows an instrument to "pass through" its signal without amplification to a mixer or amp. As stated in the User's Guide: Inputs The TUBE MP provides both an XLR and 1/4" input jack. Use the balanced XLR input for use with microphone. ... Use the unbalanced 1/4" input jack for instrument applications. Do not use both inputs at the same time. Pay attention to the last statement, "DO NOT USE BOTH INPUTS AT THE SAME TIME".

question

Can this be battery powered? I'm looking for a small preamp to put on my camera.
Asked by: Michael
No, this cannot be powered from a battery. This uses a 9 volt AC adapter. Since batteries use DC current, it will not work. As it would end up ruining the equipment. You would need to look for a preamp that is designed specifically for use with a camera.
