hahnel Captur Timer Kit Overview

Capture long exposures & time-lapse photo sequences remotely and wirelessly, thanks to the hahnel Captur Timer Kit for Sony digital SLR cameras. This bundle enhances your Captur remote shutter release system by providing a AA battery-powered interval timer module, as well as a receiver for mounting on a camera. Additional receivers are available for firing even more DSLRs. Use this kit with the transmitter you already have, or purchase one separately.

As an alternative to wireless operation, the system can function in wired mode, and this kit includes the cables for connecting both the receiver and timer module to the camera. The module features single, continuous, and bulb exposure modes, allowing you to choose from a huge range of exposure times with the continuous and bulb settings. Its interval timer is fully programmable and offers two timing sequences, as well as selectable delay times. Additionally, Digital Channel Matching (DCM) ensures quick and easy pairing of other receivers and triggers if you choose to expand your setup. The Captur works on the 2.4 GHz frequency for reduced radio interference and an impressive operating range of up to 328'. It offers simple controls and a large, easy-to-read LCD screen for hassle-free operation. Pressing the shutter release button halfway will activate autofocus, while a full push will trigger the shutter to capture an image.

Have had many shutter releases with cords that short out. This one has a cord too, but it only goes from the unit to the camera, and will not be jostled around, ergo no shorting out :) Works as good or better than corded shutter releases.

The manufacturer does not include instructions. Nothing online is helpful. Never got it to operate.

I recently got into light painting and it was hard to get the results I wanted at first. I would have to set the exposure time, hit the shutter button on the camera, run into place, turn on the light, paint, and then run back to try again after it finished taking the picture. I would repeat the process, which is very exhausting after multiple takes. With this device, I can place the camera on BULB, stand where I need to, press the button on the remote and hold it until I'm finished painting. It works great! Just be sure to know how to unlock after you've held it down for more than 3 seconds. I supposed the lock function is what does that. I haven't explored the settings enough to know. The device is actually kind of heavy for a remote of its size, but it's a comfortable weight. It's pretty well made as far as I can tell, but I've only used it a few times. Some people complained about the quality and a few other issues, but so far so good for me. I will try self portraits next and will see if I can use a flash with the mounted device.

question

What is the maximum # of photos that it can take? And the longest interval between them?
Asked by: Niels
You can take 999 photos and then you can repeat it so basically unlimited given the battery power. The max time between shots is 99hrs 59min 59sec.

Does this work all by itself? Why is extra transmitte req'd? YT videos don't mention extra transmitter. I'm confused.
Asked by: John
The need for the extra transmitter on the Hanhel Captur Timer Kit is really for the receiver, if one wanted to use it as a flash trigger outside of using the timer function.

The picture shows a receiver and the timer which it looks like you can remotely trigger the camera. Why another trigger?
Asked by: Ray
The one part is the transmitter, and the other is the receiver which mounts on the camera. There does not appear to be another trigger.
