Shure RMCE-LTG overview

  • 1Description

The Shure RMCE-LTG is a cable accessory designed to work with Shure SE earphones and compatible iOS devices. At one end, you'll find dual MMCX terminations for connecting your SE215, SE315, SE425, SE535 or SE846 Sound Isolating earphones. At the other end, an Apple Lightning connection point will allow you to plug directly into any compatible iOS device, including the latest iterations of the iPhone, which have so famously jettisoned the 3.5mm headphone jack.

With an integrated DAC, the cable will facilitate the digital playback of high-quality audio at sample rates and resolutions up to 48 kHz/24-bit. With its three-button in-line remote, you can play, pause, skip, fast-forward, and rewind your audio content. The remote also comes in handy for phone calls, as it will allow you to answer or reject them. A built-in microphone offers you the ability to communicate not only with humans over the phone, but with Siri, who can be summoned with the push of a button.

The cable itself is Kevlar-reinforced to ensure durability over time, and measures 50" in length. Furthermore, the RMCE-LTG provides a custom wireform fit to better suit your individual choice of cable placement, and its microphone has been situated in a manner intended to preserve clarity of speech and intelligibility of voice commands.

    Shure RMCE-LTG reviews

RMCE-LTG Remote & Microphone Lightning Cable for SE Earphones with In-Line DAC is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding! The Shure brand is one of my favorite go-to audio solutions. I have literally waited months for this cable system to become available and B&H is the only store to carry them this soon. That said, I've just received them and switched out the 3.5mm cable for this version. I've spent the past few hours listening to various genres of music on my iPhone 7 as well as radio stations and I'm absolutely thrilled with the sound, build and call quality. I can't wait to put this pair through its paces. I'm glad I no longer need to use the iPhone lightning adapter!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Microphone is faulty The cable costs as much as some decent earphones, so you would expect it to work flawlessly. Not only is the cable still made of a substandard material, the microphone is unusable. I can't say if the issue was due to poor compatibility with the lightning standard or subpar design, but the bottom line is I'm having to send it back to Shure to see if they can send me a pair that works. With that said. Sadly this may be the best option for using SE series earphones with an iPhone. There is a wireless bluetooth option, but for most of us it defeats the purpose of having high-fidelity earphones.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Definitely a need be for Iphone I love this. It definetly improved the sound on my iphone as much and even a little more than the dragonfly black dac with camera adapter to lightning cable. I gave it four stars, simply because I don't think it should be 100 dollars, I think 50 to 75 would be more reasonable. But I cannot doubt this is quality. The cable is shorter than the standard but I like that because I usually trip on or tangle longer cables and it's as sturdy as the standard. The microphone is great which is not surprising since Shure mostly is a microphone company in the same vain as blue or sennheiser. It is a stiffer cable so it's a little bit harder to fit in the case but it can be done if you're careful about it. Very happy with it overall.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It needs some tweaking. I was excited to get this, since I love my SE846. SE846 sounds great, but lacks the lightning jack for my next apple phones. This lightning cable seems like the perfect choice. My left ear volume cuts in and out depending on how I tilt my head. There are plenty of bad reviews on the connection so I know it's not unique to me. The needle inside the connection doesn't always make contact when it's perfectly straight so pushing it over with a toothpick slightly makes it work perfectly. Plenty of info out there if you want to search how to fix it. I don't care for the DAC. The original clear cable with the 3.5mm jack on my iphone sounds far better than the one with the lightning jack I just bought. The SE846 is the top of the line and sounds amazing normally, but this lightning jack cable makes my SE846 sound unimpressive. Immediately upon inserting I am prompted to download an app, but it's a recording app. Too bad it's not an EQ. The app is useless. I had very high expectations, and came out disappointed. Like someone else pointed out the mic is in a weird spot. Shure makes some top of the line stuff and this just launched weeks ago, I hope they fix these issues. Will I keep this cable? Yes, begrudgingly.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A waste of money The good thing is that you don't need extra adapters but the sound quality is really bad. It's way better then a cheap consumer headphone but the quality with the regular analog cable is just way better then when you use this cable. You are better off buying a set of Bose headsets which have a Lightning connector by default. I used the cable with my SE535's but they sounded like 100 dollar headphones :(

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth waiting for Expensive, but nicer than the stock cable that came with my SE535Ltd, slightly thicker and shorter, and with the wire bits that hold shape around your ears like my old E4s had. Certainly nicer than using the dongle that comes with the iPhone 7, I'd been in the habit of using them with that with the iPad too, just for convenience. I think sound quality is perceptibly better, but could be the $100 giving me psychosomatic delusions.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I have used Shure for over 15 years I have several versions of the earbuds. when apple changed the plug end I waited for Shure to come out with this cable. What a disappointment. The cable no longer has the curve in it to go around your ear - if you have small ears this is what I loved about the shure cables they actually fit. The mic is in an odd place and now does not pick up my voice well. the cord is shorter which makes putting it in your pocket impossible. the push on the cable to end or receive calls is very easy to push so now my music plays all the time in my purse. the cable no longer blocks out external noises so all the airport noise can be heard on a call. I hope Shure relooks at the design and figures out what they are doing because everything I liked about the previous cables I dislike about this one. I am sticking to what looks like I went back to the 80's for cables because those work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality that I expect from Shure Cable is high quality, better than some others I've purchased from Shure. I haven't listened enough to determine quality of the in-line DAC, but sound quality appears to be very good.
