Vortex PST-1605 overview

  • 1Description

Vortex Optics' 1-6x24 Viper PST Gen II Riflescope is a rock-solid scope, ideally suited to provide you an upper hand in close quarters combat. Its superior quality optical system matches the precision and strength of the mechanics to deliver the accuracy and reliability required in demanding situations. With the Extra-Low Dispersion (XD) optical elements, treated with the high-transmission XR full multi-coatings and ArmorTek protective coatings, you will obtain bright, clear, glare-free, and true color images along with protection of exterior lens surfaces from scratches, dirt, and oil stains. To enable with the laser-sharp shot placements, the scope features the illumined 2nd focal plane VMR-2 MOA reticle. The reticle features a modified German #4 style with three medium posts and an illuminated crosshair containing a system of MOA ranging and compensation markings. The illumination rheostat is located on the windage and elevation box and offers a graduated control knob with 10 brightness levels. The parallax-free performance is set 100 yards.

The high-quality aluminum housing is built around a durable single-piece 30mm maintube. One of the highlights of the mechanics is the Precision-Glide Erector System that ensures zooming action remains smooth under the most challenging conditions. For consistent repeatability and ease of adjustment, Vortex outfitted this optic with a Precision-Force Spring System. The scope's windage and elevation provide exposed graduated turrets with red fiber optic position markers on the knobs. The entire construction is robust, argon-filled fogproof, and O-ring sealed waterproof to ensure reliable performance for years of service.

    Vortex PST-1605 reviews

1-6x24 Viper PST Gen II Riflescope (VMR-2 MOA Illuminated Reticle, Matte Black) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from All the features half the price This scope is top notch for 3 gun competitions. I am so impressed with the clarity of the glass. While the center illumination dot functions as a red dot for close quarters. Might have to acquire a second scope for my 45-70. Has all the features as the Razor but costs significantly less which makes its more affordable for the average consumer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Scope and value for the $ This is really a premiere scope at a much lesser price....I think anyone would be hard pressed to get this in the field and show that it lacks anything that the Razor HD has

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE THIS SCOPE! Just received the Viper PST Gen II 1-6. It exceeds my expectations. This scope is amazing! Glass is crystal clear and the optic is built like a tank.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolute Steal As soon as it was available I knew I want this optic and I'm glad I got it. Having put other glass on my DDM4V4 this was by far the best, and most economic choice. Easily adjustable and very user friendly; mounting and getting my zero at 100 meters was a breeze (took 9 rounds from mounting and shooting at 33 meters and going straight to 100). I don't treat my guns like fragile china; I beat the ever living heck out of them, and the Viper was right along for the ride (including a dip in some rapids) and it's still truckin'. Met up with around 30 friends out in the middle of Washington state, and they absolutely loved it. Going from 30 meters to shooting out to 600 on a man sized steel target has never been so easy, and I wish I had one of these in the sandbox. Anyone who gets this optic wont be disappointed, and in the future I'm definitely a customer for life. Pros: Easy usability, fast target acquisition, generous eye relief, EXTREMELY clear glass, rugged yet sleek, weatherproof, very durable, user friendly, good price-point, easy to use on AR/AK/Bolt guns (have used it on all three). Cons: Battery became loose in the housing, was able to fix that by using a multi-tool to tighten down the cap, no issues afterwords. A bit weighty, but worth the weight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Favorate 1-6 Scope I really like this scope. The lens is crisp and clear and the red dot in the middle is a nice added touch. I like that if the battery dies or stops working you still have a basic scope with some crosshairs. For those dooms day folks worried about an EMP that is a plus. You also cannot beat Vortex's warranty and if you need anything fixed they will take care of it. The only reason I did not give this scope a 5/5 stars is because of the battery cap. For the gen III, Vortex should design the battery cap to be a little more robust. You need a nickel to unscrew the cap. I would rather have it be a screw driver like you would find on a Allen Wrench. I am military nd in the field and do not always carry a nickel on me. However, I always have an Allen Wrench or can find a Screw Driver from one of the tactical vehicles. If you try and use a screw driver on the battery cap, it will strip it and make it harder the next time you try to remove it. Really on the a nickel works best so be prepared to add that to you bug out and range bag. I know I am a little picky on that but I have quite a bit of experience with scopes and if give a lot of use that can become an issue. In an ideal word, make a battery compartment that can be unscrewed by hand and then perhaps tightened the last bit with a flat head screw driver.
