PolarPro MVC-CS-VIVID overview

  • 1Description

Improve the quality of your aerial footage with the Cinema Series Vivid Collection from Polar Pro. This 3-pack of filters is designed specifically for your DJI Mavic Pro. The pack includes 2-, 3-, and 4-stop neutral density (ND) filters, each with a polarizing aspect that manages the effect of sunlight. Each filter offers varying degrees of light and shutter-speed reduction, resulting in smoother-looking motion and helping to reduce the appearance of rolling shutter. The filters all feature PolarPro's Cinema Series Glass, which has a high light transmission and low refractive index.

Cinema Series Glass
Cinema Series glass features multi-coated, true-glass optics for a high light transmission and a low refractive index.
Airframe Construction
Filters designed specifically for aerial filming, featuring lightweight construction that utilizes a precision-threaded aircraft aluminum frame to help ensure smooth gimbal operation.
ND4/PL Filter
This filter reduces the camera's shutter speed by 2 f-stops and polarizes light. It's recommended for days when filming at dusk, dawn, or on cloudy days.
ND8/PL Filter
Reducing the camera's shutter speed by 3 f-stops, the ND8/PL is suitable for partly cloudy days. The polarizing aspect of this filter reduces glare and increases color saturation.
ND16/PL Filter
This filter is designed for when it is sunny out. It reduces shutter speed by 4 f-stops and polarizes the scene for capturing vivid colors.

    PolarPro MVC-CS-VIVID reviews

Cinema Series Vivid Collection 3-Filter Pack for DJI Mavic Pro is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from These are Great Filters/ See Instructions for Install OK, lots of complaints regarding placing filters on lens before start up and then the camera does not point straight after. PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS, fire up Mavic, then place filter on lens after camera calibrates. The simplest way is to roll Mavic over, grasp camera with two fingers, lens will then slip on comfortably. These are quality! Yes Ive had a few issues within Trac Mode when camera points directly underneath Mavic. The camera then needs to be recalibrated afterwards. Slight inconvenience as these are high quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Secure These fit well and I've flown a good bit. They seem well-built and are secure on the gimbal. Also, no issues with the Mavic's gimbal calibration with a filter in place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like a camera upgrade + leave it installed These filters deliver a richer picture while keeping shutter speeds lower. You can leave them on the Mavic all the time if you push them on properly. Couldn't be easier.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good if you understand the requirements to use effectively These are well made and fit is perfect. Gimbal calibration works perfectly with them installed. My two complaints are 1) Nowhere in the instructions is it mentioned that you must have them aligned correctly in relation to the angle of the sun for the polarization to work effectively. To do this you must first start and connect your Mavic to your phone, then while viewing the image on your phone, rotate the (unmounted) filter to the correct orientation. Now to mount the filter, assuming you keep the orientation correct, you first must power off the Mavic, then support the gimbal with your free hand while pushing the filter on. This is a very fiddly process that uses us precious battery time. If you don't get the orientation right in this process you will wind up having shadow and saturation alterations to your footage where you don't want them. 2) The price is quite high and case much too large. For the vast majority of users who are simply in need of reducing shutter speed, the Polar Pro Shutter series are a much better investment.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Makes an Improvement, most of the time. The ND and polarizing effect work as advertised. I'm a little disappointed with the coatings on these (if there actually is any). The image gets more washed out when shooting into the sun versus no filter installed. It's almost like shooting through a tinted window with a fine, uniform coat of dust on the outside. And yes, I have the filter pushed all the way on. When the filter face isn't in direct sunlight, the images look wonderful. With the polarizing element, I do wish that there were an alignment mark on the filter frame, but I found my preferred orientation by holding it up and looking through it using polarized sunglasses and rotating for the best matched effect. And echoing comments from others, the case is too large, especially for an aircraft that is meant to pack compactly. The finger notches are too small, almost guaranteeing that you'll get a fingerprint on the filter if you're not careful. I guess for the price, I was expecting better, but they definitely do help improve images and video.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Gimbal fails startup 50% of time I purchased this after seeing claims that they can be left on at startup. However I found that this is true 50-75% of the time. It can happen between power cycles without changing the filter. I also found that the fit varies between filters. The ND-8 is difficult to remove to the point that I thought I would damage the gimbal. I haven't tried working with PolarPro to replace as I'm about to leave on extended vacation. I'm opting to return for now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from infinitely better than DJI ND filters, totally worth the cost I initially bought the DJI ND filters. They are super fragile and not well designed. I've already broken one and scratched another. The Cinema Series Vivid Collection are more solidly built, and I haven't had any startup gimbal problems at all. The polarizer really helps as well. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm loving these filters - so far! PROS: Relatively easy to use Versatile Protects your Mavic Pro's camera lens CONS: I wish there was a way to tell the filters apart by just looking at them in the case The filters can be difficult to put on and remove, but patience and practice is key!
