Eschenbach Optik Trophy 8x25 Overview

Compact size meets high performance in the 8x25 Trophy F-Series Binoculars from Eschenbach Optik, featuring extra-low-dispersion objective lenses and BAK4 phase-corrected prisms with dielectric mirror coating, for bright and sharp high-contrast images, with accurate color fidelity across their entire wide field of view.

The lightweight and strong magnesium housing is nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging from temperature change. The dual-hinge configuration on the bridge provides a wide interpupillary distance range to allow easy use by children and adults and enables the optical tubes to fold and tuck under the bridge, for a compact form factor that makes it easy to fit in a pack, pocket, or bag.

Optical Performance
  • 8x magnification
  • 25mm objective lens diameter
  • Compact BAK4 roof prisms
  • Extra-low-dispersion (ED) glass minimizes chromatic aberration for improved color rendition and contrast

Eschenbach Optik Trophy 8x25 Reviews

Optics good but NOT waterproof

For the money the optics quality is actually pretty decent. And they feel solid and durable and well armored. But I had to exchange my pair because it got soaked in a rainstorm and fogged up inside pretty much permanently (water got in). So while they are advertised as waterproof, and may be fine for a brief splash, if they actually get soaking wet they will be ruined. So keep them dry! At least that was my experience.

Very good, with some flaws

These are very small and compact binoculars, and the included case makes them easy to travel with. The focusing knob is large, smooth, and very easy to operate, even in gloves. The field of view is wider than comparable 8x25 compact binoculars which makes it a lot easier to quickly raise them to your eyes and find what you're looking for. The internal prisms and optics are great and the image is very bright and clear. BUT... These binoculars have a major tendency to flare and ghost. If you point them anywhere in the general direction of a bright light source like the sun, the image will be washed out and you'll be looking through flares at your subject. Also, the twist-out eye cups don't extend quite as far as I'd like and I find my eyelashes brush the exit lenses which creates smudges over time. For my use I was able to forgive these flaws, especially due to the relatively affordable price. But if you're going to be using these in direct sunlight or on the water, I'd think twice.
