Windows 10 Home

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana, can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the Internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Notebook, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information-gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With it, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.

    17.3" Inspiron 17 5000 Series Notebook is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from good value, great service from order department seems like a good computer solution- have owned a dozen dell computers- much better service than from the dell website/order department. takes a while to setup and update, but that is just to be expected- NOT a complaint- just typical of any new computer. do not expect it to be up to date software wise out of the box!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall very good to excellent Using for serious personal home office applications. Not as a gaming computer. Very pleased with speed. OpenHardwareMonitor and SpeedFan applicatrions indicate CPU running cool, which is always desirable. I would have been more enthused if the touch-pad was less sensitive to the slightest touch. The minutest accidental contact may activate action thus trigger undesirable results. Since I am using the machine as desktop computer with separate keyboard and mouse this is not an issue with me however it should be noted. My other wish would be for the overall external dimensions of the laptop to have been just slightly smaller in order to fit in most 17 sleeves, thus make it easier to carry if needed. Nevertheless, considering the pluses of this machine, including processor, I would have no reservations recommending it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I wanted First off, finding and purchasing a computer through B&H was the easiest big purchase online I've ever made. Armed with the knowledge of both what I wanted, and what I absolutely didn't want, I was able to search through B&H's options and literally narrow it down to this computer. There was zero question, this was the exactly laptop I wanted. If you're looking for a laptop to run Lightroom and Photoshop, this one does the job without even hiccuping. The screen is amazing -- but make sure you tweak the True Color settings or disable them completely before doing any photo editing. Its the ONLY semi-complaint I have, as it'll skew your perception of what the photo looks like, but its an easy fix. The backlit keyboard is awesome if you like to work in low light settings (as I do). I've never had a PC boot up or respond as fast as this one does. It took no time to set up, and I am now getting work done atleast 5x faster than I was with my old laptop. The 17 screen is perfect excellent for photo editing, but cumbersome for travel. But... again, not something I'd ever in a million years knock this computer for. It's way more a plus than it could even be a minus. I'd recommend this laptop all day long.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Is there a rating lower than one star? I purchased a Dell Inspiron 17 (5000 Series) from B&H in early December 2017. I have owned and worked with personal computers (PC and Mac) since 1984. My experience with this computer has been the worst I’ve had with any computer in over thirty years. It has been twelve weeks of diverse, time-consuming, and frustrating issues. Some problems were linked with the initial cumulative Windows updates and subsequent Windows updates which were time consuming and had to be worked through several times — not over minutes or hours, but over several days. Worse, Dell’s own updating system (the Bios, graphics...) regularly leaves problems in its wake: peripheral devices/USB ports that don’t work; graphics that don’t perform as they should; startup problems. Dell Help and Support run diagnostics to no purpose, evident problems are not found or solved. I purchased the Dell to supplement and (I thought) soon replace a Toshiba Satellite c855, now nearly six years old (I had purchased the Toshiba to replace a Dell Latitude that, after three and a half years, was having repeated, unpredictable, and disabling “blue screen” problems). The Toshiba still works fine: I once upgraded it from Windows 7 to 8, later upgraded Windows 8, installed Windows 10, and have received and installed the same Windows updates as on the Dell. I run the same programs and peripherals. Clearly, the Dell computer and its updating/support systems are the problem. I’ll never buy another Dell computer and I’d advise caution to anyone thinking of it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 5400rpm hdd is too awful It's really bad that open your laptop for over 1 min. And download a game that lag because of this hard drive! I totally don't want this kind of drive that can throw in the trash can! Get 7200 rpm plz!
