TASCAM CD-A580 Reviews

My take on the Tascam CD-580

This is a good investment if you have a large Cd collection and also carry your music with you on a unit with a USB port. I was impressed by the 'largeness of the LCD display .You could clearly see which functions are currently played , along with brightly lit display counter When you press the power button , there is clunking sound that you will get used to. It may be the internal mechanisms engaging . Overall everything works well . My only dislike is the separate features and its buttons appear jumbled up. I would have preferred the CD, Cassette, and USB controls to be isolated in their own corner blocks and not laid out horizontally. Nevertheless, it does the job and does it well

This is the unit I was looking for in a while, In still keep in good conditions many cassette's that I recorded many years ago. My old Pioneer player could not get repaired and many listed as used and in good condition in many websites were of no satisfaction. I decided to look for one that could transfer from one format to another. The sound is excellent and the unit looks amazing, If I were a Tascam Co. exec, I would design a unit that can have auto reverse / play on both sides. Just for the ones like me that value formats that are past of audio history. Thanks B & H for shipping this unit fast .

can I dub from cassette to cd without connecting to amp, and monitoring on headphones?
Asked by: morton
You can dub from CD to cassette -- recording the audio from a CD onto a cassette tape. The CD section is a player only and does not have the ability to record. Recording can only be done by the cassette deck or USB flash drive. You would not need to connect to an amp and you can monitor the audio with headphones.

I was trying to find the the Tascam CD-A580 ventilation requirements if I install this in a Middle Atlantic console rack?
Asked by: Bruce
According to the manufacturer specifications for the TASCAM CD-A580 Cassette, USB & CD Player/Recorder, you should leave 1U of space above the unit for ventilation. Allow at least 10cm (4 in) at the rear of the unit for ventilation.

How is this model different from TEAC AD-850-SE?

How is this model different from TEAC AD-850-SE?
Asked by: Nitin
The TASCAM CD-A580 Cassette, USB & CD Player/Recorder and the Teac AD-850-SE CD Player, Cassette & USB Player/Recorder are very similar. The 850 model has a higher signal to noise ratio for CD playback, at 87 dB as opposed to 59 dB. Aside from this, all other differences would be negligible, and the AD-850-SE is simply a newer version.

What are the recording times for USB ?

If you are recording mP3 files, a song is usually about 4MB in size, so a 16GB USB flashdrive can hold approximately 4000 songs.

Is the cassette to USB (MP3) conversion ...

Is the cassette to USB (MP3) conversion self-contained? In other words, does the user simply push play on the cassette, and the song is automatically saved on a USB drive inserted in the USB port? If not, what is the process? And if the tape has 10 songs, does the user have to play and transfer each song individually, or does the system detect space between songs and separate the songs into separate MP3 files?
Asked by: Matt
To record audio from a cassette tape to a USB flash drive using the TASCAM CD-A580 Cassette, USB & CD Player/Recorder, you have the option of recording one continuous file or separating the files manually (starting and stopping the USB recording manually) so that each song will be saved as a different MP3 file. To transfer the audio from a cassette to USB, you insert the USB flash drive into the CD-A580, then press the Source button to select the source to be recorded (CD, Tape, or Line). Then press the Record USB button and the record icon will begin to blink. To stop recording, press the USB Stop button. You can find all of the instructions for recording in the user manual: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/615699.pdf
