Key Features
  • For Vocals, Instruments, Drums & Cabs
  • Cardioid Polar Pattern Tempers Ambience
  • High Max SPL Handling
  • Natural Treble Enhancement
Boasting components and design ported from their top-shelf models, the black Lewitt LCT 440 PURE is a side-address true condenser microphone that offers a rewarding studio-class sound on anything from vocals and acoustic instruments to drums and guitar cabs. It features a gold-sputtered 1" large-diaphragm capsule and high-end circuitry, so it can produce polished sonics and handle punishing SPLs before distorting. Supplied with a shockmount, foam windscreen, and pop filter, the LCT 440 PURE is a capable mic package for the studio or stage.

The mic's cardioid polar pattern is most sensitive to sound directly in front of it while rejecting a significant amount of ambient noise behind the capsule. The mic imparts a lift in the treble range to enhance crispness and clarity without sounding brittle. As with all solid-state true condensers, the LCT 440 PURE requires 48V phantom power and can be connected to an XLR input on your mixer, audio interface, or mic preamp.

Lewitt LCT-440-Pure Reviews

A lot for the money

It definitely has a pure/natural/flat sound! That's exactly what I wanted. It doesn't sound like I'm trying to sound like a radio host, it just sounds like my voice. It sounds authentic and true, like it's actually me talking to you in person. I'm my opinion the clarity is excellent, I don't see a need for better than this! It comes with quite a bit of stuff! They give you a shock mount, a foam mic cover, a protective travel bag, and a conveniently designed, double-screen pop filter that attaches to the shock mount magnetically.

Oh so beautifully clear

I'm recording audiobooks of my wife's series so I'm looking for a clean capture of my voice, not worried about a huge dynamic or frequency range. This mic is near perfect. As professional reviews have pointed out, it has a slight boost at 4kHz and 12kHz which I cancel with an EQ in Audition. The result sounds like me, so much so that my kids thought a playback was me reading live. Using a Motu M2 with gain around 60% and a little above normal speaking volume gives me -3dB peak. The included pop filter works but not as well as a traditional fabric/foam screen. I have a moderately treated closet studio and it picks up very little ambient noise. Very impressed.

I realize the LCT 440 Pure is INTENDED for studio use, but if I wanted to use it outdoors, what deadcat wind screen would fit the microphone?
Asked by: John
We do not have a furry deadcat style windcover available for the Lewitt LCT 440. The only option that we have for the LCT 440 is a foam windscreen, which is the Lewitt LCT-44-WX Windscreen for LCT 240, 440, 441, 540, and 640 Microphones (B&H # LELCT44WX).

How does this sound in an untreated room? Is it something I can correct in post, assuming the ambient noise isn't too great.
Asked by: Edward
The Lewitt LCT 440 PURE Large-Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone can be used in an untreated room, but results can vary depending on what type of audio is being recorded. Since the mic has a cardioid pattern, it will pick up sound from directly in front while rejecting ambient sounds from the back and sides. What you could do to isolate the mic and keep out any potential background noise is use a reflection filter like the Auray RF-5P-R Five-Panel Reflection Filter (B&H # AURF5PR), which has adjustable panels and can be used on a straight stand or placed on a tabletop. This setup should provide very good results.
